We are looking for an Assistant Purchasing Manager to join our pre-opening team for Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London.

About the role

As an Assistant Purchasing Manager, you will be responsible for assisting the Director of Procurement in controlling the hotel business in respect of Purchasing & Logistics Management. You will ensure the set-up and smooth running of the Logistics department, including overseeing Goods receiving, working to the highest of standards and representing Mandarin Oriental.

Key duties and responsibilities will include:

  • To identify, evaluate, negotiate and help select suppliers who best meet business requirements.
  • To ensure the utilization of the most competitive quotes from suppliers that are capable of meeting MOMAY’s specifications in terms of quality and delivery schedule.
  • To assist the Director of Procurement in sourcing new products and service providers as and when required.
  • To assist the Director of Procurement with projects such as capex and budgets proposals.
  • To oversee Receiving Clerks.
  • To carry out spot checks on purchased goods for quality and price competitiveness.
  • To liaise between suppliers, manufacturers, relevant internal departments and customers.
  • To liaise with the Executive Head Chefs on Food quality and FLHSS policy for goods receiving and storage.
  • To train and supervise the work of other members of staff.
  • To oversee the day-to-day smooth running of the Purchasing department, including F&B and NON F&B.
  • To adhere to the hotel purchasing procedures.
