Our Hotel

With 326 guest rooms and 31 suites, Mandarin Oriental, Miami is located in Brickell Key and is a prime location for both business and leisure guests.  It is an urban resort with Miami’s only private beach.

Overview of Position

  • Maintain a complete knowledge of service requirements for assigned functions and daily hotel activity agenda
  • Organize all assigned functions and complete preparation work in accordance to departmental standards
  • Inspect the scheduled function area/room for cleanliness, working condition and proper furniture/equipment set up; rectify any deficiencies with respective departments.
  • Meet with banquet chef and stewarding to review scheduled group’s menu and equipment requirements. Ensure agreements of delivery times, amounts and special arrangements, communicate service needs throughout the function.
  • Assign stations and side work to banquet servers in accordance with departmental standards and procedures. Communicate additions or changes to their assignments as they arise throughout the shift, identify situations, which compromise the hotel standards.
  • Conduct pre-function meeting with servers and review the daily communication form (DCF) and all information pertinent to set up and execution of schedule event(s).
  • Inspect table set-ups; check for cleanliness, neatness and agreement with group requirements and departmental standards; rectify deficiencies with respective personnel.
  • Check bar set ups for cleanliness, organization and agreement with group requirements and departmental standards.
  • Meet group coordinator/host (ess) prior to function, make introduction and ensure that all arrangements are agreeable.


• Have a minimum of 5 years’ experience in similar position in a luxury hotel property.
• Have excellent communication and organization skills.
• Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
• Willing to work a flexible schedule and holidays.
• Be a self-motivator and motivator of others.
• Must be able to work in a high-pace and dynamic operation. 
• Able to work together with other colleagues.
• Have a pleasant, friendly and helpful manner.
• Maintain a clean and healthy personal hygiene and grooming.
• Work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
