Mandarin Oriental is seeking a Commercial Analytics Lead for its commercial sales and marketing division to drive value creation for its global hotel portfolio and key hotel owners / partners. We are looking for an individual curious and passionate about data to transform into effective commercial intelligence, analysis and reporting to inform C-Suite executives and Area Vice President decision-making. The Commercial Analytics Lead will be comfortable using quantitative analysis, modeling and critical thinking to unearth competitor intelligence, strategic insights and synthesise management information. They will understand the importance of commercial analysis (revenue and profitability) and be able to develop hypotheses and deploy analytical techniques to extract these insights to help us identify and differentiate our growth opportunities. The individual will have exceptional analytical, problem-solving and consultative skills and is naturally creative, entrepreneurial, and collaborative. They look to raise the bar for analytical excellence and seek to educate and advance data not only across Mandarin Oriental but the luxury travel industry at large.


Responsibilities

  • Commercial reporting: Develop our commercial reporting to build continuous, data-driven feedback loops from the customer experience to design and execution of customer propositions, to inform operational and commercial actions and long-term strategy to enhance the customer experience.
  • Insight generation: generate powerful insights using analytical models and data visualisations, and present to key internal and external stakeholders to inform market sentiment, key growth opportunities and the overall go-to-market strategy.
  • Performance tracking: devise detailed recommendations for monthly, quarterly and annual commercial business planning, institutionalising metrics and KPIs in the work that we do.
  • Advanced analytics: pave the way for the business to develop its advanced analytics capabilities through a proof of concept, and aiming to build core commercial capability around this.
  • Advisor: Educate and build awareness around the organisation as the trusted advisor, able to comfortably speak to senior executives about commercial data, analytics, and how to leverage it for business impact in the most effective way.
  • Ambassador: Be an ambassador for Mandarin Oriental’s customer-first approach.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years demonstrable track record using tools such as SQL, PowerBI/Tableau, DAX, PowerPivot for data extraction, manipulation and visualisation to turn dynamic datasets into actionable insights [most likely in a consulting firm or commercial analytics team]
  • A working knowledge of language(s) used for data manipulation and visualisation, such as Python, R.
  • Expertise in a quantitative or data-focused role, pairing statistical analysis with storytelling to deliver great insights and presentations that influence varying audience levels.
  • Working knowledge of predictive and statistical modelling and data clustering/classification techniques; and their application to commercial value creation.
  • Dynamic and creative problem-solving skills, with an ability to think outside of the box.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex analysis to technical and non-technical senior stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in an agile and constantly evolving environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive and inform strategy.
  • Fluent English; Mandarin an advantage.
