Mandarin Oriental is seeking a Commercial Planning & Transformation Programs Lead for its commercial sales and marketing division to maximise revenue growth and shape the future of business across the global hotel portfolio, creating value for key hotel owners and partners. We are looking for an individual with strong commercial acumen and a revenue, operations or finance background to formulate growth strategies into business plans and partner with key senior stakeholders to execute on these. The Commercial Planning & Transformation Programs Lead will be comfortable using quantitative and qualitative analysis, strategic insights and critical thinking to unearth growth opportunities. They will be responsible for driving best-in-class business planning processes, including market intelligence, opportunity sizing, revenue optimisation and test and learn processes. The individual will have exceptional analytical, problem-solving and consultative skills and is naturally creative, entrepreneurial, and collaborative. They look to raise the bar on maximizing growth and seek to educate not only across Mandarin Oriental but the luxury travel industry at large.


Responsibilities

  • Business planning: design clear business plans and roadmap to driving commercial value, conduct market intelligence and competitor analysis to inform trade sales and consumer value propositions, identify opportunities and risks, advise operations and commercial teams with relevant insights to drive business performance.
  • Commercial reviews: co-ordinate and facilitate the commercial review process with analytical and strategic information to support planning and decision-making in monthly performance meetings, including evaluation of results and future improvements.
  • Strategic projects: lead and drive new projects to solve customer challenges and increase revenue growth, including technology and data-enabled initiatives, working with cross-functional internal and external teams (mainly technology, commercial and operations teams).
  • Advisor: Build awareness around the organisation as the trusted advisor, able to comfortably speak to senior executives about business planning, commercial performance and its business impact.
  • Ambassador: Be an ambassador for Mandarin Oriental’s customer-first approach.

 

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 5 years in a leading consultancy or corporate with a demonstrable track record in commercial planning, commercial strategy, business performance to drive revenue growth in challenge market conditions [most likely in a consulting firm or commercial / finance team]
  • A working knowledge of commercial and financial performance levers including conducting quantitative and qualitative analysis with storytelling to deliver intelligence and presentations that influence varying audience levels.
  • Strong project and stakeholder management ability to build influence by asking questions.
  • Dynamic and creative problem-solving skills, with an ability to think outside of the box.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex analysis to technical and non-technical senior stakeholders.
  • Comfort working in an agile and constantly evolving environment.
  • Self-starter with the ability to drive and inform strategy.
  • Fluent English; Mandarin an advantage.
