Overview:

The Director of Catering is responsible for maximizing catering revenue and profit for the hotel by leading the catering sales strategy and generating revenue. This person will be responsible for selling, planning, and executing all the meeting, social and wedding events of the banquet space in the Hotel by: 

Essential Functions:

  • Solicit new and develop existing accounts in order to meet/exceed revenue goals through telephone solicitation, outside sales calls, site inspections and written communication.
  • Participate in catering sales presentations, property site tours and customer meetings.
  • Reach individual booking revenue goals by selling and detailing events including: space requirements, times, equipment, menus, themes, decorations, etc.
  • Maintain strong client relations and ensure that catering and convention specifications are communicated and executed for a successful meeting experience for the meeting planner and attendees.
  • Complete the contracts, BEO's, group resumes and coordinate with the appropriate areas in the hotel. Produce and distribute necessary information to communicate any changes updating information to hotel departments.
  • Resolve any issues, complaints and problems to ensure quality product delivery and customer satisfaction.
  • Work closely with all operational areas to achieve business goals and successful event execution.
  • Prepares annual forecast/budget as well as provide ongoing updates as necessary.

QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and EXPERIENCE: 

  • Bachelors Degree strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years experience as a Director of Catering experience at a luxury hotel strongly preferred.

LANGUAGE SKILLS: 

  • Ability to read, write, and verbally communicate effectively and professionally in English with other business departments, guests, and vendors. Ability to diplomatically deal with difficult situations and people, while exhibiting a consistent level of professionalism.
