  • Major responsibilities
    • Together with the General Manager, to establish and implement a strategic rate structure for all market segments.
    • Together with the Reservations Manager, to apply a Yield Management System to achieve the hotel’s budget goals.
    • To be accountable for controlling the Marketing budget to the agreed annual level.
    • To be responsible for the hotel’s overall rooms availability. Through the Reservations Manager, ensuring that inventory controls are applied, and revenue maximized.
    • To direct the hotel sales activities through the Sales Team, ensuring that the sales team achieves their goals as laid out in the annual Marketing Plan.
    • With the Director of Sales, to work closely with area and regional Sales Offices to ensure that measurable results targets are achieved.
    • To establish and maintain effective relationships with colleagues of all levels.
    • To attend selected overseas trade and travel functions, and to promote sales as well as the overall image of the hotel.
    • To oversee the management of the Delphi Sales & Catering system in the office.
    • To ensure that up-to-date standardized Delphi Sales & Catering records are kept.
    • To plan and where appropriate, execute sales trips to major market areas and report new potential markets that should be considered.
    • To continually analyze and review local and international market changes.
    • Together with the General Manager, to agree programs that may be executed to address these changes. Where appropriate, these programs should be implemented through the Sales and Communication Teams.
    • To maintain close relationships with all key decision-makers both in local and international markets.
    • To ensure that a comprehensive system for Group Allocations/Blocks is established. This system should be carefully monitored in conjunction with the Director of Sales and Reservations Manager.
    • To ensure that all departments within the Sales & Marketing Division have a training plan for the year and that all colleagues have completed Legendary Sales Training and Legendary Quality Experiences training.
    • Support company’s philosophy and company culture through the use of Pillars of Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.
    • To perform any other reasonable duty as directed by the General Manager.
    • To communicate assertively and openly with MOHG Sales and Marketing Divisional Heads, Regional Sales offices and contracted P.R. and Communications consultants and companies.
  • General
    • To comply with MOHG standard policies and programs.
    • To ensure that the Fire Life Health Safety and Security company standards are maintained and carried out. They must be monitored regularly to assist in scoring 100% on the MOHG health and safety audit.
    • To ensure that standards of personal appearance, grooming and conduct are an example to the team and provide a professional image for guests.
    • To adhere to all Mandarin Oriental, Macau policies and procedures.
    • To carry out annual appraisals and regular feedback on development on all colleagues using the Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group Performance and Development System PROFILE.
    • To conduct departmental orientation on all new colleagues.
    • To liaise with the Learning and Development Manager on departmental training needs.

    Our Ideal Director of Commercial Strategy Will Have:

  • Experience in the Hong Kong and PRC markets
  • Fluent Cantonese,  Putonghua and English Language skills required.
  • Presently be based in Hong Kong, Mainland China or Macau.
