Our Hotel

With 326 guest rooms and 31 suites, Mandarin Oriental, Miami is in Brickell Key and is a prime location for both business and leisure guests.  It is an urban resort with Miami’s only private beach.

Overview of Position

It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent support directing the creativity and delivery of the highest level of catered event and meeting experience to all event stakeholders and participants.  Work closely with food and beverage to passionately support positioning the hotel’s event facilities and catering services on the highest quality tier.  Support the efforts to ensure the catering and event sales team exceed revenue goals for all contracted guestroom and suite commitments, catered events, and meetings market segments.  At all times the incumbent will ensure comprehensive servicing for all clients and act as a liaison between customers and operational departments.   

The Director of Conference Services will support the catering and conference services team’s event sales in tandem with handling an individual sales goal and assist in leading the department to achieve the food, beverage, audio visual, room rental, and miscellaneous revenue goals as laid out in the hotel Marketing Plan.  The incumbent will also be responsible for the follow-through of catering and event and the solicitation for new business. 

Incumbent will be responsible for overseeing the day-to-day operation, planning, and long-term outlook of Catering and Conference Services Department. Coordinates all aspects of conferences and communicates all conference related information to hotel colleagues in an accurate and timely manner.

The Director of Catering & Conference Services will report directly to the Director of Food & Beverage.

Requirements

  • Have a minimum of 6 years’ experience in the similar position, preferably in a luxury setting.
  • Flexible schedule is required, including weekends and holidays.
  • Have excellent communication and organization skills.
  • Must be able to work in a high-pace and dynamic operation. 
  • Able to work together with other colleagues.
  • Have a pleasant, friendly, and helpful manner.
  • Maintain a clean and healthy personal hygiene and grooming.
  • Work in a safe, prudent, and organized manner.
  • Able to handle multiple tasks at one time.
  • Able to consistently delight and satisfy our guest.
  • Able to handle guest requests in a detailed manner.
