About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Corporate Office, within the Global Sales Department in Hong Kong, the Director of Global Sales, APAC is responsible for responsible for managing key client relationships in the Hong Kong market for Mandarin Oriental, serving as the primary point of contact for top accounts. It involves developing strategic account plans, driving revenue growth through high-rated and incubator accounts, and maximizing group business opportunities across the hotel portfolio. The position also includes mentoring junior colleagues, leading client events and trade shows, and ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction while achieving room-night and revenue goals.

The Director of Global Sales, APAC reports to the VP of Global Sales, APAC.

As Director of Global Sales, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Implement account plans to maximize revenue of prospect and target accounts to diversify client base.

  • Achieve or exceed set revenue and room-night goals for all assigned accounts.

  • To effectively manage a portfolio of key accounts through planned sales activity, maximising account potential in terms of rate and/or room-nights in accordance with overall sales strategies.

  • To focus on the development of new accounts, specifically those that command a higher average rate.

  • Drive for the group business from all assigned accounts within the territory.

  • To develop incubator accounts from longtail or new accounts within 12 months to develop new leads for any hotel in the Group’s portfolio.

  • To research and develop revenues from other assigned geographical territories as needed.

  • To work with Hotel Colleagues and third-party organisations or consultants in assigned territories, to maximise sales opportunities.

  • Serve as the primary point of contact for Corporate Consortia programme, managing and facilitating initiatives to enhance opportunities for participating hotels.

  • To lead annual GSC events in Hong Kong, coordinate and participate in tradeshows , workshops and client events as required.

  • To host site inspections and familiarisation trips as needed.

  • To maintain a strong relationship with relevant airlines and NTOs.

  • To comply with Mandarin Oriental standard policies and programmes.

  • To develop and maintain a clean database of contacts in assigned markets.

  • To ensure that SalesForce is updated with activities daily and that traced activity is executed on a timely basis.

  • To produce other reports pertinent to assigned markets as required.

  • To attend certain internal meetings including but not limited to Weekly Sales Meeting, Quarterly Regional Meetings, Weekly One on One.

  • To secure, analyse and evaluate economic and market information pertinent to assigned territories.

  • To monitor sales activities of the Group’s competition and to report findings at sales meetings.

  • To provide assistance and support to sales department operations as the need arises.

  • To perform any other reasonable request as required by VP Sales & Marketing, Greater China

As Director of Global Sales, we expect from you:

Basic Qualifications   

  • Bachelor’s degree required preferably in Hotel Management, Business Administrations, or Marketing. 

  • 5+ years’ experience working in hotels, travel trade or similar fast-paced industry.  

  • 2+ years’ experience in building and leading sales teams.

  • Global/Regional sales experience is strongly preferred.

Preferred Qualifications   

  • Proven track record of over achievement against ambitious revenue and growth goals    

  • Significant sales leadership experience, including the ability to influence, develop and empower colleagues and team members to achieve shared goals with a collaborative approach.     

  • Responsive and adaptive to changing workloads, timelines and outputs required due to the fast moving pace of the industry and brands.

  • Interpersonal Savvy - relates well to all kinds of people up, down, laterally, inside and outside the organization; builds appropriate rapport, builds constructive and effective relationships; uses diplomacy and tact.

  • Strong experience building and maintaining C-Level agency and client relationships.    

  • Excellent written, verbal and presentation skills (in Mandarin and English)
