Duty Engineer

Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group is expanding its presence in London with the opening of Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London this spring 2023. Sitting on historic Hanover Square, the property comprises 50 guestrooms and 77 private residences, offering hotel guests and residents an oasis of calm and Mandarin Oriental’s legendary service alongside a vibrant atmosphere in the public spaces. It will house the first namesake restaurant in the UK from Michelin Star award winning Chef Akira Back, his ‘ABar Lounge’ concept, ‘ABar Rooftop’ as well as his 14 seat fine dining venue ‘DOSA’. There will also be an urban spa, focused on renewal and recalibration.

Duty Engineer

We are looking for a Duty Engineer to join our pre-opening team for Mandarin Oriental Mayfair, London, looking after the whole building, which encompasses 50 guest room hotel and 77 residences. Two towers of 12 floors above and 4 levels below ground, with an exclusive car park, restaurant, bar and rooftop, pool and spa to maintain.

As a Duty Engineer, you will be responsible for efficiently carrying out maintenance, repairs and replacement work assigned by the Chief Engineer to the standards required, ensuring that engineering principles and safety procedures are adhered to. You will be an integral part of the engineering operation and play a crucial role in the upkeep of the property with ensuring company FLHSS standards and checks are completed as necessary.

Key duties and responsibilities of a Duty Engineer:

• Perform check of all MEP systems, in addition carry out Health, Safety and Fire Safety systems checks as assigned and trained.
• To motivate subordinates by providing close assistance and demonstrate know-how, promote professionalism, supervise and be the liaison person to contractors.
• Demonstrate a Can-Do attitude and take care of all technical aspects of the building.
• Be electrically and mechanically competent, ideally withholding current City and Guilds qualifications or equivalent.
• Be the building expert for any technical challenge and in all emergency situations.
• Be the leading engineering person in the absence of the Chief Engineer

To be a successful candidate, you must have substantial experience in luxury hotels or private residences, possess excellent communication skills in all aspects and are quality driven with a passion excellence. You must also be versatile and ready to turn challenges into solutions and success.
