We are looking for a Financial Accountant to join our pre-opening team at Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern.

The Financial Accountant is responsible in assisting the Financial Controller and the Director of Finance for the determination of optimum control objectives and for the installation and maintenance of appropriate internal control systems over income, expenditure, assets and liabilities within the hotel. In the performance of these duties, the Financial Accountant must maintain a spirit of responsiveness among all persons and functions supervised, in order to produce a positive and unified approach to the fulfillment of all responsibilities of the position.

As a Financial Accountant you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To monitor the completion and distribution of daily in-house reports.
  • Assisting in checking of the daily operation package for completeness before routing
  • to Director of Finance and General Manager.
  • Analyzing and monitoring all balance sheet accounts on a timely and accurate manner according to policy.
  • Assisting in the preparation of month-end journals and closing entries in accordance to policies & procedures.
  • Verifying cash deposits and cash clearing accounts to avoid discrepancies.
  • Verifying that the general ledger (GL) and sub-ledger (SL) postings are accurate, ensure that GL and SL balances correspond and all contra/ clearance accounts are cleared at month-end.
  • To be responsible for all month-end deadlines and schedules.
  • Ensuring timely and accurate submission of all related reports both to management and owning companies and compliance to all policy & procedures.
  • Maintaining a working knowledge of the accounting regulations of the region where the hotel is located.
  • Supervising the filling and maintenance of all accounting related documents and records in accordance with the document retention policy.

What we are looking for:

  • Minimum of 2 years’ experience in a similar role, ideally within hospitality
  • Excellent knowledge of various PMS, POS, Purchasing, Accounting and Reporting Systems (preferably Springer Miller System, Infogenesis, Moreton Bay, Oasys, SUN System and Hyperion Planning)
  • Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office mainly excel
  • Good written and verbal communication skills in English and German.
