The Spa & Wellness Division

Spa & Wellness are considered to be core pillars of the Mandarin Oriental Group offering and a key aspect of the experiences we offer that create a world of fans. While the primary focus of the role is on the design and development of Spas, the division also oversees resort, leisure, kids, recreation, swimming pools, beach facilities, activities and more. Projects may fall under any of these areas.


Strategic Intent

It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will take full responsibility for clearly-defined aspects of spa, wellness and leisure design and project management, be pro-active, creative and results-driven in the build-up of MOHG’s core competencies.


Scope of Position

The incumbent is responsible for, but not limited to, the overall group spa, wellness & leisure design and project management, in particular the review and development of area programmes, preparation of project design & concept guidelines, establish programme database for all spas, advance to group PS & G standards. The incumbent will also manage key relationships with partners associated with the development and renovation of our facilities.


Organisational Structure

The incumbent will report directly to the Group Director of Spa & Wellness.


Job Requirements and Qualifications

The incumbent should be very familiar with reading architectural plans, area programs and design briefs. Should be able to create design concept briefs, and maintain detailed documentation on product standards and guidelines. The incumbent should have some talent and/or experience in design, able to mark up architectural plans with suggested revisions. The incumbent should understand basics of plumbing, HVAC, electrical, lighting, flooring, and A/V requirements of a building project or renovation. The ideal candidate will be knowledgeable of spa and wellness operations and be able to match the design needs to the operational needs. The incumbent should be able to communicate his suggestions and ideas clearly in meetings, presentation and written correspondence. The ideal candidate would have some understanding of the financial implications of various aspects of the developments, in order to respond to owner questions regarding costs or return-on-investment.
