Strategic Intent

It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will assist the Executive Housekeeper in managing all aspects of the Housekeeping Department inclusive of all public areas, and laundry/valet facility. He/she assists the Executive Housekeeper in maintaining the highest standards of cleanliness in all public areas as well as maintains the inventory and ordering of employee uniforms. Recommends and implements procedural changes.

Scope of Position

The Housekeeping Assistant Manager assists the Executive Housekeeper in managing all aspects of the department inclusive of all public areas and laundry/valet facility; while maintaining the highest standard of cleanliness in the public areas and Laundry; recommending and implementing procedural changes; and managing the department in the absence of the Executive Housekeeper.

Organizational Structure

The Housekeeping Assistant Manager will report directly to the Executive Housekeeper. 

Duties and Responsibilities

  • General Management:
    • Motivate, train, supervise, and evaluate housekeeping colleagues.
    • Plan daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly assignments and projects for housekeeping colleagues.
    • Perform administrative duties such as, but not limited to, departmental scheduling, payroll, and purchase requests.
    • Implement control on department labour costs.  Minimize costs while ensure adequate staffing is available to provide five star service.
    • Maintain an ongoing Safe & Sound program.
    • Performs a variety of other duties as assigned.
  • Public Areas:
    • Perform daily inspection of all rooms and public areas, exterior of building and back house areas, to ensure that the highest standards are met.
  • Guests’ Requests Handling:
    • Respond to guest questions and requests. Provide guest assistance, direction and information as requested in relation to housekeeping concerns.  Conduct daily communication meetings with the team.
