Our Hotel

This position is located at Mandarin Oriental Boston. Holding both the AAA Five Diamond and the Forbes Five-Star awards, Mandarin Oriental, Boston enjoys a coveted location in beautiful Back Bay. With a sophisticated yet relaxed atmosphere, the hotel offers the perfect blend of luxury and style.


It is the mission and intent of this position that the incumbent will take full responsibility for the tasks that are given on all aspects of the Housekeeping operation and maintenance of the hotel.

The Houseperson is responsible for maintaining a clean, well-stocked section assigned. He/She is responsible for maintaining cleanliness on guest floors and hallways assigned.

Essential Functions

1. Guest Floor Cleanliness and Tidiness:
• Cover all floors assigned to and ensures that the hotel cleanliness standards are maintained in all areas of responsibility.
• Maintain the general upkeep of assigned section of guest floors.
• Recognize and report all missing, damaged or sub-standard furniture, fixtures and equipment.
• In assigned guest floors is responsible for all furniture moving, wall washing, drapes up and down, delivery of any guest requests, shampooing, buffing and spot cleaning, interior window and mirror cleaning and high dusting.
• Maintain the cleanliness of guest foyers and corridors by performing wall washing, vacuuming, dusting of crown moulding, millwork, baseboards and cleaning of all light fixtures including ceiling fixtures.
• Perform general cleaning as scheduled, including but not limited to, carpet cleaning, curtains and upholstery cleaning, etc.
• Keep emergency stairwells and service landings in order and remove excessive soiled linen or garbage.
• Rotate mattresses according to the pre-determined schedule.
• Move and remove furniture in guest related areas as well as office spaces.
• Helps and supports other departments with moving items if necessary

2. Guest Requests Handling:
• Fulfil any guests’ request e.g. laundry pick-up, delivery of toiletries and any other requests.
• Supports room attendant in maintaining correct supplies and linen pars in closets and delivery of these supplies to the floors if needed.

3. Others:
• Maintain vacuum cleaners and other equipment by cleaning up, changing bags and belts regularly
• Reports any damages on rollaway beds or baby cribs
• Maintains and cleans the linen chute room on a daily basis
• Maintains all FHLSS related records necessary for audits, such as, but not limited to baby crib inspection sheets, rollaway inspection sheets, etc.
• Assists with any project assigned by the Executive Housekeeper or higher management

Education and Experience

  • Able to communicate written and spoken English
  • Excellent overall communication skills
  • Basic computer and typing skills
  • Able to multi-task
  • Strong desire to provide excellent guest service
  • The ability to work well in a team environment
  • Able to stand for extended periods of time
  • Multi-lingual is preferred
  • Prior experience working within a hotel
