The new colleague will ensure the smooth-running of the kitchen and to aid in the co-ordination of the team, maintain kitchen procedure and assisting Executive Chef in day-to-day operation.

 

Responsibilities:

  • To co-ordinate all team members, ensuring they perform well and cohesively.
  • To check and supervise all aspects of the kitchen.
  • To work closely with the Sous Chefs on all day-to-day matters.
  • To ensure that all information relating to bookings and movements is communicated appropriately and understood.
  • To ensure the co-ordination between kitchen and Food & Beverage area managers, resulting in a smooth-running operation.
  • To encourage everyone to aspire to the highest standards of food cooking and service.
  • To work at ensuring all components of the kitchen work as one team.
  • To participate in receiving and checking incoming goods.
  • To co-ordinate the availability of all raw food items.
  • To ensure that the appropriate methods are used in the handling of all food items in accordance with health & hygiene procedures.
  • To report anything considered to be a health or hygiene hazard.
  • To check function sheets daily, communicating any movements.
  • To supervise and demonstrate cooking practices for all outlets.
  • To observe and test foods being served.
  • To perform in a manner that the Food Cost is kept in the budgeted figures, thus avoiding wastage and mismanipulation
  • To ensure that the uniform provided is kept clean, presentable and in good condition, ensuring personal appearance and hygiene standards are an example for the team.
  • To deputise in the Executive Chef’s absence
  • To attend meetings and team briefings, relaying relevant information to colleagues
  • To help conducting departmental orientation for all new team members
  • To cooperate with the Training and Quality Assurance Manager on departmental training needs.
  • To carry out any other reasonable requests as directed by your manager.
  • To be aware of, and comply with, safe working practises as laid down under the Health and Safety Manual, as applicable to your place of work. This will include your awareness of any specific hazards at your workplace.

Requirements:

  • Experience in a luxury hotel or 5-star hotel in a similar position (at least 2 years)
  • Team player
  • Positive attitude and customer focused
  • English knowledge (intermediate)
  • EU working permit
