Responsibilities 

  • Support company’s philosophy and company culture through the use of Departmental Legendary Quality Experiences on a daily basis to ensure Guest Satisfaction and the achievement of our Mission Statement.
  • Keep work areas clean and neat at all times.
  • Must follow all Standards and Procedures as taught by legendary trainers, Departmental trainers and Fitness & Wellness Manager.
  • Conduct Fitness Assessments, Classes and Personal Training.
  • To supervise and instruct the safe use of the equipment in the Fitness area.
  • To ensure that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the Fitness Centre.
  • Assist in the operations of all Fitness Centre, as required:

      -Reception      

      -Fitness Centre (main gym)

      -Fitness Centre (movement studio)

      -Personal training session delivery

      -MO in-house class delivery

      -Unique events and Hotel marketing initiatives

      -Cleaning, maintenance and Health & Safety reporting

  • Report dysfunctional equipment to Fitness & Wellness Supervisor/Manager
  • To maintain inventory of supplies for the operations of the Fitness Centre (Headsets, fruit/water, towels etc.)
  • To attend daily line-ups, weekly and monthly departmental meetings.
  • To maintain a high standard of appearance and personal hygiene as laid down by the Mandarin Oriental MODUB Grooming Guidelines
  • Must attend all training courses as deemed necessary, and must adhere to training as set down by the Fitness & Wellness Manager
  • Must have the ability to courteously interact and answer all Spa, Wellness and Hotel related questions with guests.
  • Assist in all areas of the department, as and when necessary.
  • To be adaptable and accountable for all actions.
  • Will perform as a professional, with a friendly work ethic and conduct all duties and responsibilities as required by the position, or assigned by the Fitness & Wellness Supervisor/Manager.
  • To assist in the smooth flow of the guest’s journey throughout the day.
  • To receive training to ensure that all-relevant Health and Hygiene standards are implemented and monitored within the Fitness Centre.
  • To attend to guests in both the waiting areas and Fitness Centre; ensuring that they are comfortable as well as offering refreshments.
  • Will greet each guest with a smile and acknowledge guests, even in passing.

Skills & Qualifications:  

  • Valid registration with REP’s UAE; holding a valid Category ‘A’ fitness license.
  • High School qualification or equivalent is preferred.
  • Degree or Higher National Diploma in the field Fitness/Sports/Personal Training is preferred.
  • Specialisation in a fitness discipline is preferred.
  • Minimum 1-year experience in a commercial fitness environment, or professional sports coaching facility is preferred.
  • Previous experience in Fitness & Wellness operations, within a 5-Star Hotel,is advantageous.
  • Advanced knowledge of fitness training principles and ability to apply within a gym-based environment
  • Ability to gain the required annual CPD’s, to maintain REP’s certification and keep up to date with latest fitness trends/knowledge.
  • Strong knowledge on gym safety standards and required maintenance procedures.
  • Strong ability to develop and lead Group Exercise Classes and Fitness Events.
  • Working understanding of free weight/pin-loaded/functional gym equipment and ability to perceive any faults/damage that could compromise user safety.
  • Ability to work long hours with a strong focus on operational excellence.
  • Ability to understand the flow of service and handle multiple tasks effectively is preferred.
  • Basic computer skills including MS Office/MS Excel/Email management is preferred.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to develop rapport with guests/members to deliver superior customer service.
  • Ability to understand effective approaches of communication with different individuals from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Strong ability to coach and instruct larger groups of people with confidence (12+)
  • Able to communicate clearly with peers and management team.
  • Pleasant and polite, must be able to effectively communicate with customers on the telephone.
  • Very good verbal and written communication skills in English.
  • Verbal and written communication skills in Arabic or other languages are preferred.
