We’re looking for a Reservations, Distribution & Revenue Manager to join the pre-opening team at Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern.

The iconic Hotel Palace Luzern first opened in 1906 and is located in the heart of the city, on the shores of Lake Lucerne. The multi-million-dollar renovation will include the restyling of all guestrooms and suites, the redesign of the public areas, restaurants and bars as well as the landscaping of the outdoor grounds. Following the completion of the renovation, Mandarin Oriental Palace, Luzern will comprise 146 rooms and suites offering excellent views of the lake and mountains. There will be a restaurant and a bar together with a variety of social and meeting facilities and a spa and fitness room.

As a Reservations, Distribution & Revenue Manager, you will be responsible for ensuring the effective and efficient operation of the reservation department and maximizing occupancy levels and rate by reviewing and revising revenue strategies and identifying trends. You will conduct yield management and actively contribute towards revenue generation through management of the reservations team and systems.

The Reservations, Distribution & Revenue Manager will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To provide the Sales and Marketing function with current, accurate information on both the internal reservation situation and the external climate in which the hotel operates.
  • To prepare and hold Revenue Meetings on a weekly basis, prepare weekly and monthly forecasts and assists in completion of budget preparation.
  • To identify trends, recommends growth efforts, monitors progress of current selling strategies and ensures that hotel is competitively positioned within local marketplace.
  • To maximize occupancy levels and rate by reviewing and revising revenue strategies and gather and analyse statistics, yield information and all other relevant information to identify potential new business, markets and trends
  • To understand the overall market, including competitors’ strengths and weaknesses, economic trends, supply and demand and knows how to sell against them
  • To manage third party sites and agents to establish rates, negotiate prices, ensure proper implementation of reservations procedures, and maximise conversion ratios in order to achieve targets for the department
  • To control rooms inventory including allocation and reservations to areas of maximum yield and blackout dates, develop and conduct rooms based marketing activities and track sales programs/promotions/advertising and provide feedback as necessary to relevant departments
  • To ensure that all booking systems are maintained to achieve optimal results, liaises with Marketing team to ensure content is up to date and maintain accurate records of room type selling and sets targets for the team
  • To ensure team members are developed effectively and generate a culture of high quality standards for relationship building, customer service, selling techniques, billing and processing contracts

What we are looking for:

  • Must have a minimum of 5 years experience in a similar role within luxury hospitality;
  • Strategic approach towards maximizing revenue through use of historical data and analysis of the marketplace and demand generators, either geographically or special event related.
  • Analytical approach to problem solving utilizing data to make conclusions.
  • Comprehension of all transient segments, their respective sales processes,
  • Comprehension of technical and managerial applications of Reservation, Sales, PMS and Revenue systems including but not limited to SMS, SynXis, Datavision, IDeaS and Delphi.
  • Strong leadership, strategic, analytical, and forecasting skills.
  • Effective time management, communication, and professional presentation skills.
  • Ability to multi-task and balance the priorities of the position.
  • Excellent knowledge of German and English.
