Mandarin Oriental, Geneva is opening a new, fine-dining restaurant and for this high-end Japanese lifestyle concept, we are recruiting a Sommelier

Main Responsibilities: 

  • To manage the wine, liqueurs, spirits and drinks par stock level
  • In charge of the perfect condition of the glasses washing area
  • Recommend guests the best possible and suitable wine to complement the food.
  • Contribute to the daily food and beverage sales through suggestive selling
  • Serve all wine orders in a professional manner using the correct equipment and following the hotel standard procedures
  • Check on guest satisfaction on service, food and beverage quality
  • Record guest preference
  • Ensure the wine list is up-to-date
  • Persistently maintain an exceptional high level of wine service and correct the unfulfilled elements if necessary
  • Support other outlets where needed in terms of wine training
  • Support the marketing and promotion for the Restaurant and taking up special wine related projects
  • Complete any reports as instructed by the Head Sommelier
  • Assist the Head Sommelier in monitoring the stock of wines by introducing a proper wine management system, whilst updating wine lists with correct spelling, vintages & prices

Job Requirements:

  • 2-3 years' relevant experience
  • Holder of WSET Certificate is preferred with strong knowledge of wine & sake
  • Experience in a high-volume restaurant with highest levels of service is preferred
  • Fluent in French & English mandatory
  • Standards driven and motivational leader
  • The ideal candidate will have a genuine passion for service, food, lots of flair and creativity
  • You will have exceptional inter-personal, management and organizational skills.
  • Must be of smart appearance with excellent personal hygiene standards
