Strategic Intent

It is the mission and intent of this position that the colleague will take full responsibility for all aspects of the Spa and Fitness operations cleanliness, organization, appearance and sanitizing.

Scope of Position

The Spa Attendant is responsible for, but not limited to, the overall spa and fitness staff tidiness and appearance.

PURPOSE

Under the guidance of the Spa Director and within the limits of the Mandarin Oriental Policies, ensure that all operational procedures, codes of conduct and standards of appearance are adhered to. Help create a happy and motivated team and ensure the smooth running of the spa at all times.

Duties & Responsibilities

  • Keep work area clean and neat at all times.
  • Must follow all Standards and Procedures as taught by legendary trainers, Head Therapist or Reception Manager.
  • To ensure that a high standard of service is maintained throughout the Spa.
  • Assist in the operations of all spa departments as required:
  • Front Desk
  • Spa Retail Area
  • Relaxation Area
  • Sluice Area
  • Fitness Center
  • Spa Suites
  • Report dysfunctional equipment to Spa Director
  • To maintain inventory of supplies for the operations of the spa
  • To attend daily line-ups, weekly and monthly spa meetings.
  • Will be expected to assist various demonstrations and events.
  • To maintain a high standard of appearance and personal hygiene as lay down by the Spa Director.
  • Must attend all training courses as deemed necessary, and must adhere to training as set down by the Spa Director.
  • Must have the ability to courteously interact and answer all spa and hotel related questions with guests.
  • Assist in all areas of the spa as and when necessary.
  • To be adaptable and accountable for all actions.
  • Will perform as a professional, with a friendly business attitude and conduct all duties and responsibilities as required by the position, or assigned by the Spa Director.
  • Will be responsible for the maintaining the cleanliness of the entire Spa in particular the changing rooms, toilets, showers, relaxation areas, fitness center and Treatment suites. These should be kept in a neat, tidy and sanitary manner in accordance with the Standards and Procedure and Health and Safety Standards.
  • Will have attention to detail and be able to arrange spa items in a decorative manner.
  • To assist in the smooth flow of the guests journey throughout the day.
  • Will be expected to aid therapists in setting up for treatments and clearing away after.
  • Will be expected to ensure lockers are stocked with clean linen at all times and remove soiled linen.
  • To receive training to ensure that all-relevant legislation pertaining to the Health and Safety at work Law and Health and Hygiene standards are implemented and monitored within the spa.
  • Serve guests food and beverage in the Spa Café when needed
  • Courtesy to guests and other members of staff at all times.
  • Attend to guests in both the relaxation, waiting areas and fitness centre ensuring that they are comfortable as well as offering refreshments.
  • Will perform as a professional, with a friendly business attitude and conduct all duties and responsibilities as required by the position, or assigned by the Spa Manager.
  • Will greet each guest with a smile and acknowledge guest even in passing.
  • Will proactively offer assistance to all spa guests when necessary.

Educational Background

Must possess a good written and verbal command in the English language

Prior experience in a hotel or spa highly desirable

Additional Core Competencies

  • Reading, writing and oral proficiency in the English language.
  • Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks. 
  • Must be self-motivated.
  • Must work in a safe, prudent and organized manner.
  • Must have basic mathematical skills, technical aptitude and spa operation knowledge.
  • Knowledge of specific spa industry applications is desirable, such as spa soft.
  • Must have a commitment to follow all local and corporate policies and procedures as they relate to the Spa and hotel.
  • Must be able to relate to all levels of management and colleagues.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Must have knowledge of holistic concepts that relate to the well being of all guests in a spa environment.
  • Must be open to learning about treatments and concepts that derive from other cultures.

    PHYSICAL DEMANDS ANALYSIS

    • Sitting

    • Picking up of boxes with salon product, retail product, massage beds and toweling.

    • Squatting/kneeling: frequently

    Sensory:          

    • Sight for using computer, doing paperwork and observing guest.
