About the position

This role will be responsible for managing discrete Hotel projects related to the Finance Transformation journey – an exciting opportunity to play a key role in bringing to life Mandarin Oriental’s vision for Finance. The transition manager will work closely with the Programme lead, Director of Projects -Finance, Hotel Finance teams and the vendor, to transition of Finance business processes to a central and standardized hub. 


Key responsibilities

  • Advocate Finance transformation to Hotels; able to understand challenges with transition and articulate benefits of eventual new model
  • Follow Hotel transition plan, reporting out on project process to the hotel and internal management
  • Drive standardization, documentation and improvement of all assigned processes across hotels
  • Assist the development of standard processes and identification of gaps and remediation plan where certain activities are not consistent
  • Ensures the delivery of high quality, professional and proactive guest-focused service  
  • Manage the whole process of transferring business processes from one location to another, ensuring service levels are maintained throughout:
    • Introduction of project, objectives and transition methodology
    • Key point of contact for Hotel and Service provider throughout assigned Hotel transitions
    • During local scoping and knowledge transfer, work with Hotel and Service Provider to prepare all relevant details e.g., FTE requirements, SOP, Process Maps, KPI/Metrics.
    • Confirm any local exceptions with Global Process Owner and drive action plans to identify and close gaps between global process and as-is hotel processes.
    • Contribute significantly to continuously improve the transition methodology and toolkit, ensuring lessons learned and driving consistent, risk managed, optimised transitions
    • Ensure transparent/timely reporting on the progress, success and risks/issues of the transition to leadership


Key skills & qualifications

  • 5+ years’ work experience, in Finance project management, with experience in transition management
  • Experience in end-to-end business process transition and/or shared service model  
  • Hospitality experience preferred but not required
  • Knowledge of Finance operating procedures and systems including accounting systems, procurement system, property management system and POS system
  • Highly developed stakeholder management skills
  • Excellent communication skills, able to develop close communications and relationships with colleagues in corporate offices as well as hotels
  • Understands and respect local cultural differences and customs, able to adapt to change environment
  • Strong attention to detail with a desire to achieve results
  • Able to set and manage priorities
  • Good corporate role model, proactive, fair and approachable
  • Personable and pleasant to deal with discreet, reliable and diplomatic
  • Self-starter with positive "can do" attitude and flexible approach
  • Excellent influencing skills; able to align competing interests towards a common goal
  • Must be a Team player who is able to work virtual and have a collaborative approach
  • English fluency (written and spoken) is a must-have, fluent in Mandarin and Cantonese is a plus
  • Lean/Six Sigma Certification preferred
  • Minimum Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related subjects required; Master’s degree preferred
  • This position requires international travel
