Mandarin Oriental is seeking a VP Brand to be responsible for setting the long-term vision for the brand and establishing the future brand standards that will ensure Mandarin Oriental wins the luxury hospitality space. The role will build on the brand’s reputation as a global leader in the luxury market and ensure its leading position is sustainable for the long term. The incumbent will help to drive new standards of luxury and articulate those standards to ensure the brand remains relevant, and appeals to, current and future premium luxury customers around the world. We are looking for an accomplished brand builder who is strategic, insights driven and passionate about the customer and the possibilities for this brand. Reporting into the Chief Commercial Officer, the VP Brand will lead a small global team of brand building specialists, and oversee a network of corporate communications, advertising, research agencies and partners. The role will set the direction for the brand as it continues to grow, as well as put in place governance processes to ensure adherence as we expand across offerings, guest experiences and geographies. The leader will be a proven brand builder and critical thinker with the clarity of thought to articulate a vision and bring colleagues and hotel owners on that journey. Most of all, this leader is passionate about the Mandarin Oriental brand and committed to define its next chapter as a leader in the category.
 
Responsibilities
 
  • Set and own the global brand vision, strategy and direction for Mandarin Oriental as a category leader in luxury hospitality
  • Facilitate category leadership and brand adherence by setting the brand standards, quality controls and how the brand will be experienced across touch points
  • Own the 360 degree brand building strategy overseeing brand building communications and delivery in video, outdoor, print, social and digital advertising
  • Own all brand reputational activity by actively managing corporate communications, content strategy, reputational efforts and PR - MO Magazine, Press releases, Podcasts, Reports [annual and sustainability]
  • Manage a high performing team of brand go-to-market managers that provide strategic brand consultation to all current and new hotel, product and partnership launches
  • Manage the budget and appointment of all brand communications, advertising, social and PR agencies
  • Be the voice of the brand contributing to strategic business discussions relating to its future; as we explore new revenue opportunities for the brand
  • Collaborate with the HR team to ensure the colleague brand is aligned with the quality and principles of the consumer brand so we live the brand inside and out
Qualifications
 
  • Minimum of 15 years in global brand management, category management, corporate communications or creative services management
  • A strong foundation in strategic marketing planning, brand building and operating at a global scale
  • Proven track record of building and developing consumer brands at scale
  • Comfort working in an agile and constantly evolving environment with wide range of internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience managing and coaching a lean, high performing team
  • Strong strategic communicator able to speak to a range of senior commercial and operational stakeholders across a global business • Fluent English; Mandarin an advantage
