Scope of Position


The project lead will be responsible for managing the end-to-end HR transformation project at Mandarin Oriental – an exciting opportunity to play a key role in delivering our people strategy. The project lead will be the day-to-day project manager, working closely with the MOHG team and implementation partner, as well coordinating and communicating with senior stakeholders to successfully implement the project. The scope is to design and implement a new operating model for HR driven by a new common HRMS technology platform (Workday) and standardised processes and ways of working from project planning, process design, system config through to go-live and continuous improvement stage.


Duties and Supporting Responsibilities

  • Manage project team to ensure successful delivery 
  • Manage and communicate with senior stakeholders across the business including Corporate, Hotels, HR, IT, and other key users
  • Be an ambassador for HR transformation
  • Encourage Hotel teams to embrace change and assist in making change positive
  • Openly communicate, coordinate, and liaise with all workstream leads to ensure cooperation and early identification of risks
  • Collaborate with global process owners and facilitate, with implementation partner support, design of global standard HR processes  
  • Manage and work closely with implementation partner to ensure system configuration, testing and process design is complete on time and aligned with stakeholder requirements
  • Liaise with payroll and other system vendors to system cut-over and contract implications
  • Collaborate with vendor, IT, and hotel staff on conversion of data from current to new system
  • Collaborate with change management/ training lead and vendor to design training programme, materials and conduct training where appropriate, including refresher training
  • Lead test management, developing the test strategy and test plan with the implementation partner
  • Manage project governance, including weekly project meetings and monthly/ quarterly updates to SteerCo
  • Set up other governance structures as required, such as change/decision board
  • Develop and maintain project management deliverables such as the project plan, risk log, project charter and communications plan
  • Support project team and hotel users with training, standardisation in functionality use, day-to-day queries, requests, or support issues
  • Define the long-term support model
  • Manage project budget, objectives, scope and deliverables


Experience and Competencies

  • 7+ years work experience in HR operations and/ or HR transformation
  • 7+ years project management experience, including issue resolution
  • Project management training/certification such as Agile or Prince2
  • Prior HR system implementation experience
  • Deep understanding of HR systems/ERP deployment (Workday preferred, but not required)
  • Experience of working with a deployment partner and managing scope changes
  • Hospitality experience preferred but not required
  • Excellent written and communication skills
  • Strong stakeholder management skills, able to work with stakeholders across regions, levels and departments
  • Self-starter, organised and goal-orientated
  • Able to inspire and “sell” a compelling vision for transformation 
  • Adaptable to change in plans and able to flex style dependent on stakeholder
