About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Finance (Share Service) Department in Hong Kong, the Assistant Accountant is responsible for the Inventory System, month end closing for SCM and operational function of the hotel's financial and internal control systems and completing responsibilities for both hotels as needed: Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong and the Landmark Mandarin Oriental under the shared services arrangement.  The Assistant Accountant reports to the Financial Controller.

As Assistant Accountant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Responsible for the monitoring, stocktaking and month end closing of SCM system.
• Assist to prepare various financial and management reports
• Assist the Financial Controller in enforcing the systems of internal controls
• Ensure that Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group accounting policies are strictly adhered to
• Assist the Financial Controller in the preparation of annual budgeting and forecasting
• Find ways to improve the efficiency of the operations that will benefit our clients
• Find ways of maximising and increasing sales and/or yield (in revenue centres)
• Propose and initiate when approved, new services and products for our guests
• Find methods of reducing costs without affecting the level of service or product received by the guests.

As Assistant Accountant, we expect from you:

• Degree in Accountancy or related disciplines is preferred
• Above 3 years of relevant experience
• Previous experience in the hospitality industry is an advantage
• Familiar with experience in computerized accounting system, SUN System
• Good command of written & spoken English & Chinese
• Self-initiative, attentive to details and with excellent interpersonal and communication skills
• Proactive, detailed-oriented, hands on, multi-tasking and able to work independently and under pressure
• Immediate availability will be an advantage.
