ASSISTANT DIRECTOR OF PEOPLE & CULTURE

About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Kuala Lumpur / within the People & Culture Department in Kuala Lumpur, the Assistant Director of People & Culture supports the Director of People & Culture in leading all human resources functions within the hotel. The role focuses on attracting, developing, engaging, and retaining talented colleagues while ensuring compliance with company policies, labour laws, and brand standards. The Assistant Director of People & Culture reports to the Director of People & Culture.

As Assistant Director of People & Culture, you will be responsible for the following duties: 


•    Supporting employee relations matters, including performance management, disciplinary processes, investigations, and grievance handling.
•    Driving colleague engagement, welfare, recognition, and retention initiatives to foster a positive workplace culture.
•    Monitoring manpower budgets, headcount, turnover, absenteeism, and other People & Culture metrics.
•    Ensuring compliance with employment legislation, company policies, and audit requirements.
•    Partnering with department leaders to provide guidance on people management and organizational effectiveness.
•    Supporting succession planning and talent development to build future leadership capabilities.
•    Leading and coordinating People & Culture projects, events, and corporate initiatives. Assist the DOPC to prepare the P&C annual budget i.e. manning and operating expenses budget.
•    Prepare all the necessary reports to MOHG (Group P&C). 
•    Involvement in local community.
 

As Assistant Director of People & Culture, we expect from you: 


•    Degree or Diploma in Human Resources / Hospitality Management
•    Minimum 10 years of hands-on experience in Human Resources in the service industry
•    Have a good working knowledge of local labour legislation and practices
•    Ability to interpret, understands, translate and write effectively in English Language and Bahasa Malaysia
•    Ability to give clear instructions in written and verbal form and effectively present information to top management, employees and peers
