About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Restaurants, Bars & Experiences department in Dubai, the Assistant Lounges Manager is responsible to support the Lounges Manager in all related operational, administrative and financial aspects of the lounges and assumes full responsibility in his/her absence. Assistant Lounges Manager reports to the Lounges Manager.

As an Assistant Lounges Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Support the Lounges Manager in overseeing daily lounge operations, ensuring smooth service delivery, operational excellence, and full compliance with company standards, policies, and procedures.

  • Lead and supervise lounge teams during shifts, manage scheduling, attendance, leave planning, grooming standards, performance management, and provide guidance, coaching, and disciplinary support when required.

  • Drive exceptional guest experiences by maintaining a strong floor presence, managing reservations effectively, handling VIP guest requirements, resolving complaints, and creating memorable service moments that enhance customer satisfaction.

  • Monitor service quality, food and beverage standards, POS accuracy, menu management, cleanliness, maintenance, and collaboration with culinary, housekeeping, engineering, and other departments to ensure seamless operations.

  • Support business performance through financial and administrative oversight, including P&L analysis, labour cost control, compliance with accounting procedures, record management, and execution of promotions, events, and seasonal initiatives.

  • Demonstrate strong leadership, organizational, communication, and multitasking abilities, with expertise in fine dining operations, cashiering and POS procedures, team development, project coordination, and continuous improvement of service standards.

As an Assistant Lounges Manager, we expect from you: 

  • High School qualification or equivalent, with a Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or Business Management preferred.

  • Minimum 3 years of experience as an Assistant Restaurant Manager within a luxury hotel or upscale restaurant environment, with mandatory restaurant pre-opening experience.

  • International hospitality exposure across at least two regions, including Asia, Europe, North America, and preferably the Middle East.

  • Strong guest service orientation with the ability to understand customer needs, exceed expectations, and motivate teams to consistently deliver exceptional dining experiences.

  • Sound knowledge of HACCP, restaurant operations, staff training, and team development, with the ability to support onboarding, maintain training records, and facilitate both on-the-job and classroom-based training.

  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, supported by proficiency in MS Office, strong English language skills, and the ability to effectively engage with colleagues, peers, and guests; additional language skills such as Arabic are an advantage.
