The Role

The Audio Visual (AV) Specialist is responsible for the setup, operation, monitoring, and maintenance of audiovisual systems supporting banquet events, conferences, weddings, corporate functions, and special occasions.
This role ensures the seamless execution of all audio, video, lighting, and presentation requirements while delivering an exceptional experience for clients and guests.
The AV Specialist works closely with the Banquets, Events, and Sales teams to ensure all technical requirements are met and event standards are consistently achieved.

 

Key Responsibilities

Event Setup and Operations

• Set up, test, operate, and dismantle audiovisual equipment for banquet functions, meetings, conferences, weddings, and special events.
• Ensure proper operation of microphones, sound systems, projectors, LED walls, monitors, lighting systems, and presentation equipment.
• Conduct pre-event technical checks and rehearsals to ensure all equipment functions properly before guest arrival.
• Monitor audiovisual systems throughout events and promptly address any technical issues that arise.
• Manage event transitions, ensuring smooth execution of program requirements and technical cues.

Client and Event Coordination

• Liaise with clients, event organizers, speakers, entertainers, and vendors regarding audiovisual needs.
• Provide technical recommendations and solutions to enhance event presentations and guest experiences.
• Attend pre-event meetings and briefings as required.

Equipment Maintenance and Inventory Control

• Perform regular preventive maintenance and troubleshooting of audiovisual equipment.
• Inspect banquet venues and meeting spaces to ensure audiovisual systems are operational and event-ready.
• Maintain accurate inventory records of AV equipment, accessories, and consumables.
• Report damaged or malfunctioning equipment and coordinate repairs or replacements as necessary.

Video Conferencing and Hybrid Events

• Set up and support virtual and hybrid meetings using platforms such as Microsoft Teams, Zoom, Webex, and similar applications.
• Ensure reliable connectivity and audiovisual quality for remote participants.
• Provide technical assistance to speakers and attendees during hybrid and virtual events.

Safety and Compliance

• Follow proper safety procedures when handling, transporting, and installing audiovisual equipment.
• Ensure all cables, electrical connections, and equipment setups comply with safety standards.
• Maintain an organized and secure storage area for audiovisual equipment.

Administrative Responsibilities

• Maintain event logs, service records, and maintenance reports.
• Track equipment usage and recommend upgrades or replacements when necessary.
• Assist in developing standard operating procedures for banquet audiovisual services.

 

Qualifications & Experience

• Bachelor's Degree, Diploma, or Technical Certification in Electronics, Information Technology, Multimedia Technology, Broadcast, Communication, or a related field.
• Relevant AV, sound engineering, or event technology certifications are an advantage.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in audiovisual operations, preferably within a hotel, convention center, events venue, or hospitality environment.
• Experience supporting banquet events, conferences, weddings, and corporate functions is preferred.
