About the job
The Barista is responsible for preparing and serving high-quality coffee, beverages, and other refreshments while providing warm, attentive, and personalized service to guests. The role ensures that all beverages are prepared consistently according to established standards while maintaining a clean, organized, and welcoming bar area.
As Barista you will be responsible for the following duties:
Guest Service
- Welcome and interact with guests in a warm, professional, and courteous manner.
- Take beverage orders accurately and provide recommendations when appropriate.
- Prepare and serve beverages promptly while maintaining high service standards.
- Respond to guest requests, feedback, and complaints professionally and appropriately.
- Anticipate guest needs and personalize the service experience wherever possible.
Beverage Preparation
- Prepare espresso-based beverages such as espresso, cappuccino, latte, flat white, and Americano according to established standards.
- Prepare specialty coffee, tea, juices, smoothies, and other beverages as required by the outlet.
- Ensure proper operation, cleaning, and maintenance of coffee machines, grinders, blenders, and other beverage equipment.
- Maintain consistency in beverage quality, presentation, temperature, and portion control.
- Follow established recipes and presentation standards.
Operations & Hygiene
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of the bar, coffee station, equipment, and surrounding areas.
- Ensure all equipment is cleaned and maintained according to the required schedule.
- Follow food safety, hygiene, HACCP, and health and safety standards at all times.
- Monitor stock levels of coffee beans, milk, syrups, garnishes, and other beverage supplies.
- Inform the supervisor of any shortages, equipment issues, or quality concerns.
- Assist with receiving, storing, and rotating beverage products according to FIFO principles.
- Minimize wastage and ensure proper handling and storage of all products.
Teamwork
- Work closely with the Restaurant, Kitchen, Stewarding, and other Food & Beverage teams to ensure smooth operations.
- Assist colleagues during busy periods and support other F&B areas when required.
- Attend daily briefings, training sessions, and departmental meetings.
- Maintain effective communication with supervisors and colleagues.
Guest Experience & Brand Standards
- Deliver service in accordance with the property's luxury service standards and brand philosophy.
- Maintain a professional appearance and grooming standard at all times.
- Demonstrate knowledge of coffee, beverages, ingredients, and preparation methods.
- Create a welcoming and engaging atmosphere for guests.
- Support promotional activities, special events, and seasonal beverage offerings.
As Barista, we expect from you:
Educational Background
- Minimum 1–2 years of experience as a Barista, preferably in a luxury hotel, resort, specialty coffee shop, or high-end restaurant.
- Certificate or qualification in Barista Skills, Food & Beverage, Hospitality, or a related field is an advantage.
Skills
- Good knowledge of coffee preparation, espresso extraction, milk steaming, and beverage presentation.
- Knowledge of food safety and hygiene standards.
- Good command of English; additional languages are an advantage.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- Guest-oriented with a positive and professional attitude.
- Able to work flexible hours, including weekends, public holidays, and shifts.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment.
