Mandarin Oriental is looking for a Business Development Manager to join our team at the London Corporate Office.

About You

  • You are a Travel Product Professional with 7–10+ years of experience and have successfully defined and delivered Supply-focused execution plans with tangible results.

  • You have a passion for Travel and/or the Vacation Rental sector and are looking for your next role.

  • You relish the opportunity to impact the global expansion of a company and work collaboratively at all levels.

  • Your experience will have made you familiar with the demands of an early stage business and you take a practical approach to delivering value and results.


Responsibilities: Functional Leadership

  • Lead the Commercial Product (Supply) acquisition, growth and management

  • Develop, plan and execute the Commercial Product plan that underpins our business strategy, goals and ambition of global scale

  • Identify new product opportunities worldwide based on key metrics and statistics

  • Prospect, target, manage and expand a pipeline and portfolio to achieve business targets

  • Negotiate and close deals to grow revenue, manage product margin and add value for all parties

  • Account manage the relationships with partners, including regular business reviews, feedback and strategic planning

  • Watch and analyse trends, markets and competition and derive insights appropriate for a U/HNW clientele

  • Enhance functional processes including legal review and accounting compliance, and adhere to regulatory standards

  • Work collaboratively across the business and make business decisions that are researched, analysed, planned and commercially and financially sound

  • Act as an ambassador and role model for the business, both internally and externally

  • Project-manage execution in a structured, performance-driven and timely manner, and communicate across the business

  • Contribute to strategic planning and setting of Company budget and forecast

  • Control, track and report on functional performance versus growth budget and forecast

  • Define, manage and communicate KPIs to assess and drive functional performance

  • Hire new team members when required


Requirements

  • Proven successful experience and expertise of 7–10+ years as a manager of Commercial Product or Purchasing in the Travel industry or Vacation Rental industry specifically

  • An established network of industry contacts

  • Exemplary negotiation skills and excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to eloquently convey business propositions

  • Senior level business acumen and concise communication skills are essential in this role, including delivering an agenda at senior level

  • Analytical and problem-solving skills, with a practical numbers-oriented mind

  • Demonstrated performance in advanced planning and measured execution

  • A close eye for details is a necessity for reviewing and approving contracts as well as properties

  • Adept at successfully mitigating risks and capturing opportunities by planning ahead

  • A positive mindset and forward-thinking attitude; a believer in our mission and execution plan

  • True team player with excellent relationship building skills

  • Ability to travel internationally regularly

  • BSc/BA, MBA or other relevant graduate degree is a plus
