Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca is looking for a Chief Accountant to join our Finance team.

About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra Mallorca, as the Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for the supervision of all members of the accounting department and being able to assist or cover a position if needed.

As Chief Accountant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • To prepare balance sheet entries and reconciliations as part of the month-end closing process.
  • To prepare the profit and loss statement as part of the month-end closing process.
  • To ensure compliance with local laws and procedures.
  • To be responsible for adherence to and comprehensive understanding of all MOHG and hotel policies and procedures 
  • To support department heads in making relevant and accurate financial decisions 
  • To lead employees in the areas of income audit, accounts receivable, accounts payable, and cost control.
  • To create reports and statistics for all internal and external areas and assisting in the development of processes.
  • To support training on finance and accounting topics. 

As Chief Accountant, we expect from you: 

  • Intermediate or higher degree on Finance, Accounting or similar.
  • A conclusive prior experience, preferably in a Five Star Luxury property.
  • An experience with the accounting principles managing a property.
  • Ability to handle high volume with attention to detail.
  • Ability to establish and retain effective working relationships with hotel staff and clients/vendors.
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills.
  • Applies a professional, confidential and ethical approach at all times.
  • Ability to execute analytical thinking.
  • To be flexible and reliable.
  • Responsible for understanding and having a working knowledge of all areas in accounting and being able to assist or cover a position if needed.
  • Excellent written and spoken communication skills spoken and written both in Spanish & English.
