About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Corporate Office in Hong Kong, within the Development function, the Development Analyst, Asia Pacific supports the Group’s growth objectives across the Asia Pacific region. The role works as part of the global development team and collaborates closely with regional colleagues as well as counterparts in EMEA and The Americas.
The role reports to the Vice President, Development, Asia Pacific.
As Development Analyst, Asia Pacific, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Development Projects
Support the regional development team on new development opportunities and provide ad‑hoc support for signed projects.
Study markets and competitive landscapes to inform project selection and optimal product positioning.
Support visioning and positioning of new projects, including early concept ideas and planning considerations.
Contribute to development underwriting through high‑level financial analysis and feasibility inputs.
Support pitch processes including NDAs, Letters of Interest, RFP presentations, Heads of Terms / Letters of Intent, and responses to owner enquiries.
Prepare internal memorandums to brief stakeholders on projects, partners, and markets.
Assist in interfacing with consultants, brokers, investment partners, and joint‑venture partners.
Travel selectively to support deal assessment, market analysis, and relationship building.
Research & Reporting
Prepare regular development project updates.
Track market activity, competitor developments, and updates relating to existing and potential owners and partners.
Strategic Projects
Support strategic initiatives for the regional development team.
Participate in working groups and collaborate with internal teams on product strategy and new ventures beyond hotels (e.g. yachts, trains).
Ad‑Hoc Support & Coordination
Provide ad‑hoc analytical and coordination support to the regional team.
Coordinate regularly with internal stakeholders across departments and regions.
As Development Analyst, Asia Pacific, we expect from you:
Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in a relevant discipline.
Minimum 3 years’ experience in a similar or related role.
English fluency with strong written communication skills; Mandarin Chinese and other languages are an advantage.
Strong analytical and numerical skills, with the ability to support investment‑focused discussions.
Ability to manage multiple workstreams and priorities simultaneously.
Comfortable using standard systems and open to adopting new technology and AI tools.
Curious, globally minded, and interested in different markets and cultures.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work with internal and external stakeholders.
