About the Role
Mandarin Oriental, Santiago is seeking service-oriented professionals to take on the position of Director of Commerce, whose responsibilities will include:
Leading the development, implementation, and execution of the hotel’s annual commercial strategy reports, directing the activities of those reporting to you.
Defining and executing the hotel’s sales strategy in line with business objectives and brand positioning.
Leading and managing the sales team, ensuring objectives and KPIs are clearly set, tracked, and achieved.
In alignment with the Director of Revenue, establishing the strategic direction of the hotel’s business by balancing financial goals, managing sales segments, and guiding the hotel’s commercial strategies. This will be achieved by:
Developing, implementing, and evaluating short- and long-term sales strategies to meet revenue targets, increase RevPAR, and shift share across rooms, F&B, and ancillary departments.
Creating commercial strategies for the hotel and ensuring alignment with MOHG brand philosophy, guidelines, and initiatives.
Collaborating with Revenue and Marketing teams to develop competitive offers and integrated campaigns.
Ensuring commercial strategies are aligned with revenue management, communicated to sales, marketing, and operations teams, and adjusted when market conditions fluctuate.
Reviewing and finalizing weekly/monthly forecasts with the Director of Revenue.
Participating in long-term planning meetings with key hotel leaders, supporting the continuous improvement of the forecasting process.
Representing the hotel at international trade shows, sales trips, roadshows, and networking events, promoting the property and the Mandarin Oriental brand.
Positioning the hotel across distribution channels, ensuring information accuracy and monitoring competitor positioning.
Managing the annual sales budget and controlling expenses according to monthly forecasts.
Developing strategic brand partnerships with relevant luxury, lifestyle, arts, and cultural brands.
What We Expect from You
Minimum 5–7 years of leadership experience in luxury hospitality sales, preferably within international brands.
Proven ability to lead and inspire a sales team, with a hands-on approach and a strategic mindset.
Strong business development, negotiation, and key account management skills.
Excellent communication and presentation skills in English and Italian; additional languages are highly valued.
In-depth knowledge of MICE, Corporate, and Leisure segments, particularly within the luxury and lifestyle markets.
Familiarity with hotel systems, including Delphi, Opera, Microsoft Office, and CRM tools.
High financial and analytical acumen, with the ability to create forecasts and interpret data.
Ability to travel as required to represent the hotel and Mandarin Oriental in key markets.
A degree in Hospitality, Business Administration, Marketing, or related fields is preferred.
Advanced English.
