About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Guangzhou, within the Sales & Marketing Department in Guangzhou, the Director of Commercial Strategy will lead all on-property commercial functions including Sales, Marketing and Revenue Management. The role is responsible for driving business growth, optimizing profitability, and aligning commercial efforts with market trends, brand positioning, and global commercial guidelines.

The role will report directly to the General Manager of the hotel and collaborate closely with regional corporate teams and cross-functional leaders to ensure the hotel achieves the commercial and financial performance targets.

As Director of Commercial Strategy, we expect from you:

• Master’s or bachelor’s degree in hospitality, business administration, marketing or a related field equivalent
• Minimum 5 years’ experience in the same position in luxury hotel, preferable in the Greater China
• Familiarity with commercial systems such as SynXis, IDeaS, Delphi, Salesforce, Power BI, Cvent, Agency 360, and related reporting tools.
• Proven track record of achieving commercial and revenue targets across multiple segments.
• Strong analytical and strategic planning skills with experience in data-driven decision-making.
• Strategic approach towards maximizing revenue through use of historical data and analysis of the marketplace and demand generators, either geographically or special event related
• Knowledge of luxury market trends, competitive landscape, and global travel patterns preferred.
• Strong business acumen and market focus to drive financial results
• Strong leadership, strategic, analytical, and forecasting skills
• Effective time management, communication, negotiation skills and professional presentation skills
• Excellent communication skills in Mandarin and English, both written and verbal, spoken Cantonese would be an asset
