About the job 

Based Mandarin Oriental Jakarta, the Director of Commercial Strategy is responsible for the strategic direction and operation of the Sales, Catering, Reservation and Communications Departments. The Director of Commercial Strategy reports to the General Manager. 

As Director of Commercial Strategy, you will be responsible for the following duties: 

1. Revenue & Yield Management

  • Establish and implement a strategic rate structure for all market segments with the General Manager.
  • Apply Yield Management systems (with the Director of Reservations) to achieve hotel budget goals.
  • Control and monitor the Marketing Budget to the agreed annual level.
  • Oversee overall rooms availability and ensure proper inventory controls through the Director of Reservations.
  • Ensure a comprehensive Group Allocations/Blocks system is in place and carefully monitored.

 

2. Sales Strategy & Market Development

  • Direct hotel sales activities through the Director of Sales and ensure targets are met as outlined in the annual Marketing Plan.
  • Attend selected overseas trade shows, travel functions, and industry meetings to promote sales and the hotel’s image.
  • Plan and, where appropriate, execute sales trips to major market areas and identify new potential markets.
  • Analyze and review local and international market changes; propose and implement appropriate programs with the General Manager.
  • Execute the Direct Marketing Plan together with the Marketing Services Manager.

 

3. Systems, Processes & Reporting

  • Oversee the management Delphi Sales and Catering system and ensure accurate, standardized records are maintained.
  • Monitor and report on market trends, sales opportunities, and program effectiveness.
  • Ensure departmental reporting and coordination align with strategic business goals.

 

4. Leadership, Training & Relationships

  • Establish and maintain effective relationships with subordinates, peers, superiors, and key market decision-makers.
  • Ensure all Marketing departments have an annual Training Plan.
  • Ensure Sales and Reservations teams complete the Legendary Sales Training Program.
  • Perform any other reasonable duties as required by the General Manager.

As Director of Commercial Strategy, we expect from you: 

Educational level: Degree or Diploma in Hospitality Management or relevant Education

Work experience:

  • Open for Indonesian Passport holder
  • Minimum 7 years working experience in the luxury hotel industry; international experience preferred.
  • Previous experience is essential in similar role, must have been a Assistant  Director of Sales for a minimum of 2 years with a proven track records of results.
  • Ability to motivate and develop the best sales team in Indonesia.
  • Excellent knowledge of Corporate and Government markets.
  • Knowledge of travel agent sales.
  • A clear understanding and evidence of formal training and application of revenue management techniques.
  • Knowledge of airlines from both a direct revenue perspective and also as potential marketing and distribution partners.
  • Outstanding selling and negotiation Skills.
  • Impeccable, intelligent and clear presentation and business communication skills.
  • Comprehensive Computer Skills and Computer literacy.
  • Proficient in written and spoken English, preferably in Indonesian.
  • Able to liaise effectively with designated market segment accounts.
  • Knowledge of market segment.
  • Excellent presentation and communication skills.
