About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Bosphorus, within the Finance Department in Istanbul, the Director of Finance is responsible for;

• To direct, manage and support the development, implementation, maintenance and administration of all financial controls and accounting procedures, based upon a maximization of internal control techniques consistent with MOHG established policy and generally accepted accounting principles, as adapted to any local legal requirements.
• To play an active role in the management of the hotel and exercise a responsive attitude to the needs of the General Manager and other members of the hotel management team.
• To be actively involved in the search for opportunities to improve the profitability of the hotel and encourage the preparation of exception reports and analyses to help meet and measure the success of this objective.

As "Director of Finance", you will be responsible for the following duties:

• To manage/oversee the accounting department to ensure optimal efficiency of financial operations and adherence to Mandarin Oriental commitments to management contracts.
• To supervise preparation of all financial reports, ledger reviews and forecasts according to the established schedule, for distribution of operational information necessary to assist management in decision-making and budget preparation processes.
• To oversee preparation of, interprets and analyzes monthly financial statements and presents to management.
• To monitor revenues/expenses and ensure accurate recording of information to Mandarin Oriental established guidelines.
• To compile financial data related to operations, investigate and critique variances from expectations to determine cause and recommend appropriate management response to insure attainment of hotels financial objective.
• To establish and oversee /audit all internal financial controls to include purchasing, cash handling, receipts, disbursements, expendable/fixed asset inventories, payroll and employee records to ensure policies are enforced according to Mandarin Oriental standards.
• To prepare all outsourced venue contracts with the hotel and ensure these are adhered to from a financial perspective.
• To coordinate annual internal and external audit processes.
• To assist management in the capital planning process by providing appropriate ROI information.
• To coordinate the development of the Annual Budget and Monthly Forecasts.
• To assist division and department heads in the preparation of their respective budgets
• To maintain files, pertaining to and ensuring compliance with, insurance policies, all contracts, and legal agreements
• To ensure proper, timely payment of fees for licenses, permits, regulatory contracts and insurance's, all taxes.
• To serve as active member of Executive Committee and attends all related Meetings.

As "Director of Finance", we expect from you:

• To approve as needed all purchase orders, payroll submittals, cash transfers to owners, manual checks, balance sheet and bank reconciliations, month end journal entries, bad debt write-offs and all Mandarin Oriental inter-hotel and corporate billings.
• To direct cash management activities to ensure the proper use and timely availability of funds.
• To provide guidance on technical issues affecting the departments reporting to the Assistant Director of Finance.
• To evaluate changes in guest needs, the hotels guest mix and industry competitive set, to recommend appropriate product/service and operational changes necessary to ensure guest and employee satisfaction, while maintaining market dominance and exceptional financial prospects.
• To carry out any other reasonable requests as directed by the General Manager.
• To balance and to manage MOHG and owning company relationship.
• To assist in future openings of MO properties within Türkiye, if needed.
