About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Boston within the Information Technology department in Boston, Massachusetts, the Director of Information Technology will be responsible for the overall hotel’s IT operations, including internal audits, infrastructure, helpdesk, information security and IT-related projects. The incumbent will be expected to assess and recommend IT products and solutions, overseeing the department’s budget and expenditure and collaborate with corporate IT for global applications, security, and standards. The Director of Information Technology will oversee the IT Manager.
The Director of Information Technology reports to the General Manager.
As Director of Information Technology, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Establish and enforce IT policies, standards, practices and security measures to ensure effective and consistent information processing operations and to safeguard information resources
Administer the Department's expense budget, within budgetary guidelines to contribute to cost-effective operation of the company
Oversee prioritization and project management of all technology projects
Maintains knowledge of development in systems, networks, databases, and hardware and incorporates new developments into the future systems of the company
Evaluate and test hardware, software, network, and data communications
Responsible for the ongoing integrity and enhancements of the hotel’s technology
Maintain and update policies, procedures and contingency plans
Ensure critical systems, specifically Property Management System, Telephone System, Guest Room Technology and Food & Beverage point of sale systems, are available at all times
Ensure system security procedures are carried out and are consistent with control requirements and corporate policy
Establish and maintain backup procedures for all systems to ensure protection from loss of data and ensure backups are carried out in accordance with corporate and local policies
Act as the hotel’s liaison with both hardware and software suppliers to ensure that the terms of maintenance agreements are followed by all concerned
Build and manage relationships with vendors, colleagues, and stakeholders
Ability to offer high level support during onsite events
Provide and hold regular training on information security and technology application to hotel colleagues
Perform any additional duties as assigned by management
As Director of Information Technology, we expect from you:
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in a similar senior leadership role; experience in luxury hospitality is strongly preferred
Strong business acumen with the ability to prepare an annual budget
5+ years of Microsoft Operating System and domains/Active Directory knowledge and experiences
Strong network infrastructure design and implementation experiences including installation and troubleshooting experience of routers, Wi-Fi, switches and firewalls
Experience in WAN/LAN technologies, data recovery solutions, network security, VMware and network management systems
PCI DSS and information security knowledge and experiences
Flexibility; the ability to be on-call 24/7 for emergencies
Ability to work with minimal supervision
Excellent time management and organizational skills; excellent verbal and written communication skills
Desirable:
College degree in Information Technology or a similar related field.
Compensation:
The salary range for this position is $120,000-130,000 annually plus eligibility for an annual incentive bonus based on hotel financial performance.
