About the job
Based at The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Sales & Marketing in Hong Kong, the Director of Sales will lead the hotel sales team in achieving the room revenue goals as laid out in the hotel Marketing Plan. Director of Sales is responsible for all room sales, solicitation of new business, strategy planning and implementing sales action plans set forth in the Marketing Plan for both Mandarin Oriental Hong Kong and The Landmark Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong. The Director of Sales reports to the Director of Commercial Strategy.
As Director of Sale, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Together with the Director of Commercial Strategy implement the agreed rate structure and strategy for all market segments
Direct all sales activities for sales managers and ensure that they meet the goals of the marketing plan and those of the Measurable Results System
Establish and maintain effective employee working relations both within the department and with other departments
Attend trade shows, sales trip and client’s event to targeted market to promote sales and image for the hotel
Plan and where appropriate, execute sales trips to major market areas and report new potential markets areas that should be covered
Analyze and review market changes with the Director of Commercial Strategy and implement programmes with the sales team to meet these changes, i.e. changes to the FIT segment, inflation, or competitor initiatives
Maintain close relationships with all key decision-makers both in local and international markets
Organize and accompany familiarization site inspection trips with major clients
Regularly entertain major clients with Sales Managers to cultivate relationships
Maintain a high level of exposure for the hotel in the major marketing areas through direct sales solicitation, telephone and written communications
Supervise the sales and business development team, in the control of group allocations and corporate allotments
Ensure up-to-date SMS / Delphi profiles
Responsible for executing the annual training plan for the sales department and to ensure that all members of the sale steam have completed the Legendary Sales Training Programme
Work closely with the Area Sales Offices and Regional Sales Offices to ensure that the Measurable Results targets are achieve
Set Quarterly measurable sales goal to each member and assist to monitor the progress & provide guidance for team to reach goal
Analyze and evaluate client production with sales managers and implement sales action plans
Provide feedback and market information to Director of Commercial Strategy on changing market conditions, including trends on the competition, as a result of direct sales solicitation, telephone, reading material and interaction with competitive hotel staff
Implement all sales action plans in the marketing plan
As Director of Sales, we expect from you:
Degree holder in Business Management, Hospitality Management or relevant discipline
Minimum of 5 years relevant working experience and at least 2 years in managerial level or of similar capacity, preferably in luxury hotel
Excellent written and spoken English, Cantonese and Putonghua
Good business acumen with strong analytical mind in implementing Sales & Marketing strategies
Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to engage effectively at all levels of colleagues and guests
Aggressive, confidence, self-motivate, positive thinking and able to work under pressure
