About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Punta Negra, Mallorca within the Marketing & Commerce department in Mallorca, the Director of Sales is responsible for aligning sales strategies with the hotel’s long-term goals, driving revenue growth, and enhancing the hotel’s market presence. This role involves collaborating with global teams to implement targeted sales campaigns, managing key client relationships, and executing sales initiatives to meet business objectives. The Director also leads business development efforts, fosters relationships with corporate clients, partners, and industry influencers, and ensures efficient use of the sales budget. Additionally, they oversee the sales team, ensuring high-performance standards and driving overall growth for the hotel.

As Director of Sales, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Responsible for all the assigned segments from assigned markets, to plan and where appropriate, execute sales trips to major market areas, reporting new potential markets to be considered.
  • Participation in and development of Commercial Plans strategies/ideas/budget to achieve the budgeted results.
  • To implement strategies for the region and implement sales action plans
  • To attend select trade and travel functions, i.e. trade shows and to promote sales and image
  • Organize and conduct training sessions and presentations for clients.   
  • To provide feedback and market information as requested relating to changing market conditions, including trends in competition by carrying out sales solicitation, telephone, reading material and interacting with competitive hotel staff. To analyze and review these changes with the Director Commerce. 
  • To maintain and develop close relationships with all relevant commercial parties (Fan Club, Virtuoso, /Travel Advisors etc.).
  • To organize and accompany major guests on familiarization trips and hotel site inspections.
  • To establish and maintain effective working relations both within the department and with other departments.
  • To maintain a high level of exposure for the hotel in the major marketing areas through direct sales solicitation, telephone and written communications. Prospecting, focusing on the development of new business.
  • To conduct rate negotiations and to finalize contracts with major travel,
  • Work closely with area and regional Sales offices to ensure that measurable results targets are achieved and share best practices.
  • To be informed of any current or future hotel openings or refurbishments in your destination.
  • To be informed of any upcoming projects or developments (estimated opening dates) of MOHG.  
  • To be informed of all Revenue Meetings, Credit Meetings and other needed meetings.
  • To maintain an updated contact list and database and activities in Sales Force
  • To ensure hotel exposure (information and images) is updated and accurate in collateral, intranets/extranets and any other platforms.
  • Analyze and take action based on Hotelligence market report, in conjunction with the Regional Sales Team.
  • Make full use of Power BI and share findings
  • Analyze and follow-up with your market productions current or future, decrease or potential based on reports.
  • To maximize opportunities for up-selling rooms and any other services.

As Director of Sales, we expect from you: 

Experience and education

  • A minimum of 10 years’ experience in a similar sales leadership role within luxury hospitality, luxury retail, or a high-end business environment, with a proven track record of driving revenue growth and building strong client relationships.
  • A degree in Business Administration, Sales, Marketing, or related fields is preferred, with additional certifications in luxury sales management or business development being advantageous.
  • Luxury Market Insight: In-depth understanding of the ultra-luxury market, including customer preferences, emerging trends, and competitive landscape. Strong ability to identify business opportunities and tailor sales strategies to meet the unique needs of high-net-worth individuals and corporate clients.

Technical Skills

  • Strategic Vision: Expertise in developing and implementing high-level sales strategies that align with the luxury brand’s identity and business goals, driving revenue growth and market penetration.
  • Client Relationship Management: Proven ability to cultivate and maintain strong, long-lasting relationships with high-net-worth individuals, corporate clients, and key industry partners.
  • Sales Leadership: Skilled in leading and mentoring a sales team to meet and exceed targets, while fostering a collaborative and performance-driven environment.
  • Digital Savvy: Solid understanding of digital sales platforms, CRM systems, and data analytics to optimize sales strategies and customer engagement.
  • Business Acumen: Proficient in managing key operational aspects of sales, including forecasting, budget management, and contract negotiations.
  • Excellent Communication Skills: Fluent in both written and spoken English and Spanish, with the ability to communicate effectively across various channels and audiences.
  • Sophisticated Communication: Maintain a refined, polished communication style suited for high-net-worth clients and luxury industry stakeholders.
  • Innovative Approach: Continuously explore new sales strategies and market trends, adapting approaches to stay ahead of the competition in the luxury sector.
  • Cultural Sensitivity: Demonstrates awareness and respect for diverse cultural preferences, enhancing relationships with an international clientele and team.
