About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Milan within the Sales Department in Milan, the Director of Sales is responsible for overseeing the Sales strategy for the hotel. The Director of Sales reports to the General Manager.
As Director of Sales, you will responsible for the following duties:
Ensures coverage of assigned and responsible multi-markets;
Ensures maximum employee satisfaction and conducts annual performance reviews of the team (Profile system);
Responsible for the account management of key and prospect accounts;
Forecasts account revenue production of all revenue streams with the team;
Attends customer events, trade shows and sales missions to maintain, build and develop key relationships;
Ensures that all calls and sales leads are answered in a timely manner and as per company standards;
Conducts weekly meetings with the Sales Team to track performance and monitor effectiveness of strategies;
Carries out site visits as per company standards;
Executes exemplary customer service to drive customer satisfaction and loyalty by assisting the customer and ensuring their satisfaction before and during their stay/program/event;
Responsible for annual expenditure for all sales activities and control of the budgeted expenditure by a monthly forecast;
Develops the business outlook and commercial strategy for the hotel and ensures the strategies confirm to MOHG’s brand philosophies, guidelines and initiatives at all times;
Provides strategic direction as it relates to pricing, inventory, channel management and distribution of all market segments in accordance to MOHG’s brand guidelines;
Maintains continual awareness of current and future competitors, for example but not limited to, product, published offers/pricing, renovation plans, inventory, etc;
Promotes the professional development of the all Sales Team;
Achieves annual revenue goal based on budget;
Implements strategic actions based on hotel segmentation ;
Conducts regular one on one meetings in order to ensure personal development plan is ongoing;
Responsible for all Sales activities;
Participates on branded conference calls;
Establish goal settings relative to Mandarin Oriental incentive plan;
Manage selection interview for new interns or new colleagues;
Develop Sales Team training courses based on current performance.
As Director of Sales, we expect from you:
Must be excellent in using computer and well versed in all computer applications
Must work well in stressful high-pressure situations; maintain composure and objectivity under pressure
Excellent organizational skills and ability to work in dynamic and fast-changing environment
Must have an established network of connections
Excellent business negotiation and customer relationship management skills
Available to travel abroad
Degree or Higher National Diploma equivalent in Hospitality/Hotel/Business Management
Minimum 8/10 years of experience working in a 5-star hotel environment within Sales and Banqueting
A minimum 3 years of experience in a leadership role
High knowledge of Italian and English
