Scheduled to open in 2026, this landmark development will feature 276 elegantly appointed guestrooms and suites, offering a refined blend of contemporary design and timeless sophistication. The Role

The Director of Wellness is responsible for creating, leading, and delivering an exceptional integrated wellness experience that reflects Mandarin Oriental’s global standards while uniquely capturing the spirit of Makati and the Philippines. This role oversees all wellness‑related operations—including spa, fitness, holistic wellbeing, and lifestyle programming—and plays a strategic, hands‑on role in pre‑opening planning, development, and brand positioning.

 

The Director ensures that the Wellness Centre becomes a signature destination for guests, residents, and the local community by delivering innovative, personalized, and culturally relevant wellness experiences.

 

Key Responsibilities

1. Pre‑Opening Planning & Development

  • Develop the full operational structure of the Wellness Centre, including facilities planning, equipment selection, design flow, and guest experience journey.
  • Create all SOPs, service standards, and guidelines in alignment with Mandarin Oriental’s global wellness philosophy.
  • Coordinate with Engineering, Design, Housekeeping, Security, and other departments to ensure a seamless pre‑opening readiness.
  • Recruit, train, and onboard the wellness and spa team, ensuring that all colleagues embody the Mandarin Oriental service culture.

2. Strategic Leadership

  • Conceptualize and implement the overall wellness vision for Mandarin Oriental Makati.
  • Lead financial planning: budgeting, forecasting, cost control, and revenue strategy for spa, fitness, retail, and memberships.
  • Identify partnership opportunities with luxury wellness brands, health experts, local artisans, and holistic practitioners.
  • Develop data‑driven strategies to enhance guest satisfaction, grow revenue, and maximize profitability.

3. Operational Excellence

  • Oversee day‑to‑day operations of spa, fitness, thermal experiences, membership programs, and wellness retail.
  • Maintain strict adherence to hygiene, safety, and regulatory requirements.
  • Ensure all treatments, therapies, and fitness offerings meet global best practices and brand standards.
  • Implement and monitor quality assurance systems, mystery audits, and guest feedback mechanisms.

4. Guest Experience & Service Innovation

  • Curate a diverse wellness menu, integrating international therapies with Filipino and Asian healing traditions.
  • Introduce signature Mandarin Oriental experiences customized for the Makati market.
  • Lead personalization initiatives: wellness consultations, tailored programs, lifestyle coaching, and high‑touch VIP services.
  • Develop seasonal wellness events, retreats, workshops, and community-focused programs.

5. Team Leadership & Development

  • Build a high-performing team of therapists, fitness trainers, wellness coaches, attendants, and reception specialists.
  • Foster a culture of warmth, empathy, professionalism, and continuous improvement.
  • Organize regular training: treatment protocols, guest engagement, retail excellence, and wellness knowledge.

6. Sales, Marketing & Brand Positioning

  • Partner with Sales & Marketing to promote the Wellness Centre as a top destination in Metro Manila.
  • Create compelling membership packages, promotions, and partnership programs for local and international guests.
  • Drive social media visibility through thought leadership, educational content, and curated campaigns.

7. Financial & Performance Management

  • Monitor P&L, revenue targets, cost efficiency, productivity metrics, and retail performance.
  • Implement yield-management strategies for treatment schedules, memberships, and therapist utilization.
  • Review weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports to support business decisions.

 

 

Qualifications & Experience

  • Minimum 8–10 years of progressive experience in luxury hospitality wellness or spa leadership.
  • Pre‑opening experience in a luxury hotel or spa strongly preferred.
  • Expert knowledge in wellness trends, holistic therapies, fitness programming, and spa operations.
  • Strong financial acumen and ability to create revenue-generating concepts.
  • Proven leadership in building and inspiring high-performing teams.
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to engage both guests and colleagues with warmth and professionalism.
  • Certification in spa management, hospitality, fitness, wellness coaching, or holistic health is an advantage.
