About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Engineering Department in Dubai, the Duty Technician will assist in managing the shift operations. Also responsible to keep all equipment in good repair with minimum downtime by providing day to day maintenance of the hotel. And to complete maintenance work orders from all departments on a timely basis by following hotels standard operating procedures. The Duty Technician reports to Duty Supervisor.

As a Duty Technician, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Carry out daily maintenance tasks in guest rooms and public areas, including HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Respond promptly to guest and department maintenance calls, and complete work orders following standard procedures and timelines.
• Diagnose issues, prioritize urgent breakdowns (e.g., plant or equipment), and implement effective solutions independently when required.
• Ensure proper use, maintenance, and protection of tools, equipment, and safety gear, maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.
• Address guest complaints or requests courteously and efficiently, ensuring satisfaction and minimal disruption to their stay.
• Be on standby for emergencies, understand blueprints and technical manuals, and act swiftly to safeguard people and property.

As a Duty Technician, we expect from you: 

• A minimum of 2-5 years of technical background. 1-3 Years industry experience in a similar role in a luxury hotel is preferred
• A formal qualification in mechanical/electrical engineering
• Hands-on experience in day-to-day maintenance of the hotel/villas
• Proficiency in using various hand tools, power tools, and diagnostic equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics.
