About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona within the Finance Department, the Accounts Receivable Accountant is responsible for managing the full accounts receivable cycle, ensuring accurate billing, timely collection of outstanding balances, and maintaining the integrity of customer accounts. The Accounts Receivable Accountant reports to the Assistant Director of Finance / Director of Finance.

As an Accounts Receivable Accountant, you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Manage the full accounts receivable cycle, including invoicing, recording receipts, and applying customer payments.
  • Prepare and issue accurate invoices to clients in a timely manner.
  • Reconcile customer accounts and statements, investigating and resolving payment discrepancies.
  • Monitor overdue accounts and proactively manage collection activities to ensure timely recovery of outstanding balances.
  • Collaborate with the Sales and Guest Services teams to resolve billing-related queries and disputes.
  • Prepare aging reports and other key accounts receivable and financial performance metrics.
  • Support monthly and year-end closing activities, ensuring the accuracy and completeness of accounts receivable records.
  • Maintain accurate accounting records and ensure compliance with internal policies, accounting standards, and company procedures.
  • Assist with audits and provide supporting documentation when required.

As an Accounts Receivable Accountant, we expect from you:

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in a similar role, preferably within Accounts Receivable.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and ERP systems.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and accounts receivable best practices.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to work independently while contributing effectively to a team environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Experience within the hospitality or luxury hotel industry is considered an advantage.
  • Fluency in English; Spanish is highly desirable.
