Mandarin Oriental, Hangzhou is a forthcoming five-star luxury hotel set within the prestigious Westlake 66 mixed-use development, near the UNESCO-listed West Lake. Scheduled to open in 2026, the hotel will feature 194 elegantly designed guestrooms and suites, complemented by four restaurants and bars, extensive meeting and event spaces, and world-class wellness facilities including a signature spa, fitness centre, and indoor pool. Blending contemporary sophistication with cultural heritage, the hotel is designed as a serene retreat in one of China’s most vibrant cities, offering seamless access to Hangzhou’s key business districts and leisure attractions.
As Material Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Maintaining a good relationship with all departments and Corporate Purchasing
- Negotiate cost effective purchases for all supplies and services, while meeting all MOHG guidelines and quality specifications
- Negotiate cost effective purchases for all Capex and FF&E items, while meeting all MOHG guidelines and quality specifications
- Generate purchase orders on approval requisitions and obtain necessary authorization and obtain the authorization from the Director of Finance and General Manager prior to processing these orders
- Obtain competitive price quotations and confirm purchase availabilities
- Ensure that there are sufficient supplies on hand for on all inventoried items for each department by coordinating regular inventories with Stores
- Ensure that all items received by the hotel are properly documented in accordance with the company's purchasing and receiving procedures
- Managing the purchasing system and support department heads in regards to Purchase requests and Purchase orders.
- Expedite any outstanding purchase orders
- Conduct food supplier premise checks with the Executive Chef before registering the supplier as a vendor to ensure supplier is compliant with HACCP standards
- Conduct surprise audits in receiving and storage areas to ensure that HACCP standards are being maintained by colleagues
- Must be willing to work a flexible schedule in order to accomplish all major responsibilities and tasks
As Material Manager, we expect from you:
- Diploma/Degree in Hotel Management and/or Accounting or equivalent
- Diploma/ Degree in purchasing/ procurement management

Luxury Hotel Experience: Proven track record in a luxury hotel environment in materials management, purchasing, or supply chain leadership.

Native Chinese Speaking: Native proficiency in Mandarin Chinese (verbal and written) with the ability to negotiate with local suppliers, communicate with government authorities, and manage local vendor relationships effectively.

Hotel Opening Experience: Demonstrated success in pre-opening materials management, including supplier sourcing and contracting, procurement system setup, stock level establishment, receiving/storage area preparation, and opening inventory planning.
- Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Office, mainly excel
- Previous Cost Control experience
