General Description
Provide hotels and corporate offices with support and guidance in the design and implementation of wired and wireless networks carrying voice, video and data
Review and network standards and guidelines
Review and audit network equipment configurations in hotels and corporate offices to comply with network standards and guidelines
Work with the hotel opening team to validate the deployment of systems and resolve any discrepancies when compared to documented standards
Guide hotels on design for wireless networks
Guide the implementation of SD-WAN and ISP Resiliency
Implement and test solutions in sandbox environment
Evaluate new solutions in sandbox environment
Manage firewall administration using third party services and ensure adherence to MO Information Security policies and standards:
Provide technical direction to vendor on complex firewall changes
Review for approval all firewall change requests and provide technical guidance to change requestor as needed
Conduct firewall hardening updates in coordination with all sites
Review and document justification for all firewall rules
Monitor ongoing service delivery to ensure SLAs are met and deliver monthly status report.
Maintain updates to network router and switch standards
Perform technical review of OS updates, bug reports and patches
Test new equipment and alternative configurations
Provide 3rd tier technical support for guest facing network performance problems
Assist in technical analysis of network packet level captures
Provide guidance and support to hotels to provision network capture capability
Perform bandwidth capacity and optimization engineering:
Provide related technical guidance and support to hotels using available onsite monitoring tools
Provide support for application benchmarking related to bandwidth requirements and enforce Service Level Agreements (particularly in Cloud based deployments)
Communications:
Regular communications with hotel and corporate teams and vendors are required (both verbal and email)
Planning and multi-tasking is a requirement of this position, since this position typically is lead for several concurrent projects
Communicate with hotel teams regarding outstanding tasks and deliverables and assist in maintaining the defined timeline
Participate in training and vendor activities concerning new technology and solutions
Administration:
Effectively coordinate timelines and deliverables
Documentation of technical work is required with every project and standard
Assist in the coordination and communication of assignments within the department
Willing to work outside of normal business hours with teams in other regional offices
Willing to travel
Required skills and experience
University degree in IT
Minimum of 5 years’ experience in network and system design, implementation and administration
Hands-on experience managing network routers, switches, firewalls
Hands-on experience managing Software Defined Wide Area Networks (SD-WAN)
Hands-on experience in implementing BGP routing protocol
Hands-on experience in managing multipoint VPN
Hands-on experience network virtualization (VSS, VRF)
Hands-on experience implementing and managing layer 2 and 3 switched networks carrying multicast video
Hands-on experience implementing and managing Wi-Fi networks, including a solid understanding of the latest 802.11 standards, radio heat maps, network topology, and passive optic networks
Experience in virtualized server administration
Professional Certifications: CCNA (Cisco Certified Network Associate) desired
Self-motivated, analytical and possessing good interpersonal & problem-solving skills
Willing to work out of hours to co-ordinate with corporate IT teams in other regional offices.
