About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Events department in Dubai, the Sales Assistant Manager is responsible for driving hotel event and catering revenue by managing the full sales cycle, building strong client relationships, and ensuring seamless coordination between sales and operations to deliver exceptional guest experiences. Sales Assistant Manager reports to the Director of Conference & Events.
As a Sales Assistant Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Drives revenue through strategic sales, yield management, upselling, and achieving monthly catering and events targets.
Manages the full event sales cycle, including lead follow‑up, proposals, contracts, BEOs, group resumes, and accurate file handovers.
Builds strong client relationships through site inspections, entertainment, feedback meetings, and consistent service excellence to ensure loyalty and repeat business.
Collaborates closely with Banqueting Operations, Sales, Reservations, and other hotel teams to ensure smooth event execution and high customer satisfaction.
Maintains organized account records, negotiates pricing within selling strategies, understands market trends, and ensures timely handling of all client requests.
Supports team development, attends operational and departmental meetings, resolves guest issues, and sets a positive example across sales and events functions.
As a Sales Assistant Manager, we expect from you:
Holds a hospitality‑related degree or diploma, with at least three years of hotel or hospitality sales/administrative experience, including managerial exposure in Conferences & Events or Sales.
Brings strong background in luxury hotel environments and is proficient with computer applications, including prior experience using Delphi.
Demonstrates excellent customer‑service capability, with strong understanding of guest needs and the ability to work independently under pressure.
Shows strong communication skills, both verbal and written, in English (Arabic preferred), paired with effective presentation and interpersonal abilities.
Highly organized, able to plan workloads, manage time efficiently, adapt to varied situations, and solve problems proactively.
Maintains a positive attitude, friendly personality, and a can‑do approach that supports teamwork and guest satisfaction.
