About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Events Department in Dubai, the Sales Manager is responsible for driving conference, events, catering, and group room revenue to achieve annual financial targets by managing the end-to-end sales process, coordinating with clients and hotel operations, ensuring contractual and payment compliance, and delivering exceptional event execution to maximize customer satisfaction and repeat business. Sales Manager reports to Director of Events.
As a Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:
- Communicate and uphold all hotel policies, operating procedures, legal requirements, confidentiality standards, and information security practices while acting as a professional hotel ambassador.
- Support a safe, inclusive, and sustainable workplace by complying with People & Culture initiatives, learning and development programs, social media policies, and zero-tolerance harassment and discrimination standards.
- Drive catering, conference, events, and group business revenue by achieving budget targets, generating new business, following up sales leads, negotiating contracts, and maximizing upselling opportunities.
- Manage the end-to-end event sales process, including client proposals, contracts, quotations, site inspections, event planning, BEO preparation, group handovers, and coordination with operational teams.
- Build strong relationships with clients and stakeholders to deliver exceptional customer service, handle complaints, gather feedback, ensure repeat business, and grow key accounts.
- Maintain accurate sales records and account management systems, participate in sales activities and departmental meetings, support colleague development, and collaborate closely across hotel departments to ensure successful event execution.
As a Sales Manager, we expect from you:
- Bachelor’s degree or diploma in Hospitality, Hotel, or Business Management, with at least 3 years of experience in hospitality sales, conference and events, or related managerial roles.
- Proven experience in luxury hotel environments, with strong knowledge of conference, events, catering, and sales operations.
- Proficient in computer applications and sales systems, including prior experience using Delphi.
- Strong customer service orientation with the ability to understand guest needs, exceed expectations, and build lasting client relationships.
- Excellent organizational, problem-solving, time management, communication, and presentation skills, with the ability to work independently and under pressure.
- Positive, flexible, and approachable professional with outstanding interpersonal skills, a can-do attitude, and strong verbal and written English communication skills; Arabic language skills are an advantage.
