About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo / within the Sales & Marketing Division in Tokyo, Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo, is seeking a highly skilled and results-driven Sales Manager to develop and execute sales strategies for the Middle East market. The Sales Manager will be responsible for driving corporate, leisure, group, and MICE sales, specifically targeting high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), luxury travel agents, corporate clients, and event planners from the Middle East. This position requires a deep understanding of the Middle Eastern clientele and culture, and the ability to foster long-term relationships while maximizing revenue opportunities for the hotel.

As Sales Manager, you will be responsible for the following duties:

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sales Strategy & Market Development:

    • Develop and implement a tailored sales strategy for the Middle East market, focusing on luxury travel, government delegations, corporate accounts, and MICE (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences, and Events) segments.

    • Identify new business opportunities in key Middle Eastern countries (UAE, Saudi Arabia, Qatar, Kuwait, Bahrain, etc.) and drive revenue growth from these regions.

    • Conduct market research to understand evolving trends in the Middle Eastern travel and business sectors, adapting sales tactics as needed.

  • Client Relationship Management:

    • Build and maintain strong relationships with key clients, including luxury travel agents, high-net-worth individuals (HNWIs), corporate buyers, event planners, and MICE organizers from the Middle East.

    • Provide exceptional customer service to Middle Eastern clients, understanding their cultural preferences and specific needs.

    • Ensure the smooth transition from sales to operations for all corporate and group business, ensuring Mandarin Oriental’s high standards of luxury and service are met.

  • Revenue Generation:

    • Collaborate with the Revenue Management team to develop strategies that optimize room rates, occupancy, and overall revenue from the Middle East market.

    • Drive upselling of luxury services such as suites, spa treatments, private dining experiences, and customized packages for Middle Eastern guests.

    • Develop proposals, contracts, and tailored packages for groups and corporate events, ensuring all client needs are met with a focus on profitability.

  • MICE :

    • Lead the sales of MICE business for the Middle East market, including conferences, incentives, and group bookings, ensuring alignment with the hotel’s business strategy.

    • Work closely with the Events team to ensure all meetings, events, and conferences meet the highest standards of service and quality.

    • Conduct site inspections and attend key networking events to foster new MICE opportunities and build brand presence in the region.

  • Brand Representation & Networking:

    • Represent Mandarin Oriental, Tokyo at key trade shows, networking events, and sales missions in the Middle East region.

    • Build strong relationships with industry influencers, DMCs (Destination Management Companies), travel agencies, and corporate accounts, strengthening the hotel’s position as the preferred luxury destination for Middle Eastern travelers.

  • Sales Reporting & Forecasting:

    • Maintain an accurate pipeline of opportunities and provide regular sales reports, forecasts, and updates on market performance.

    • Track sales activity and results to ensure goals are met, adjusting strategies as necessary to achieve targets.

    • Provide feedback to the Director of Sales and other departments to improve the overall guest experience for Middle Eastern clients.

  • Cross-departmental Collaboration:

    • Work closely with marketing, operations, and reservations teams to ensure seamless communication and alignment of sales efforts.

    • Collaborate with the Mandarin Oriental corporate teams to ensure Middle East-specific promotions, packages, and partnerships are developed and promoted effectively

・Holds eligibility to enter all GCC countries for business and travel purposes
