About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental, Hong Kong within Food & Beverage Division in Hong Kong, the Sommelier is responsible for managing the beverage service and all the wine inventory as well as promoting sales. To be involved in the daily operation of the restaurant and to serve wines and spirits in the restaurants. The Sommelier reports to the Restaurant General Manager.
As Sommelier, you will be responsible for the following duties:
Deliver a delighted bar and dining experience to our guests
Oversee and maintain smooth and efficient operations in the bar areas
Understand guests’ needs and deliver excellent service and professional recommendation
Ensure that the beverage lists are updated and maintain accurate sales records
Monitor the proper storage, aging rotation and temperature of all stock in beverage storeroom in a daily basis
Serve all beverage order in accordanc with proper procedures
Provide on-the-job training to bartenders as well as the service team in all aspects of the beverage service and knowledge
Follow and apply HACCP standards at all times
As Sommelier, we expect from you:
Holder of WSET certificate
Minimum 2 years’ relevant in F&B or hotel industry
Solid experience in fine dining or Michelin-starred restaurants is preferred
Passionate about delivering an exceptional F&B service
Pleasant, presentable, service -oriented, a team player with good communication and interpersonal skills
Proficient in Cantonese and English. Mandarin is an advantage
Initiative and good customer service skills
