About the job 

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Downtown, Dubai within the Banquet Department in Dubai, the Waiter/ess is responsible to oversee and be personally involved in all operational aspects of a particular shift in order to assure all service steps are followed and to guarantee every single guest is delighted. Banquet Waiter reports to Banquet Supervisor. 

As a Waiter/ess, you will be responsible for the following duties:

• Deliver exceptional banquet service by understanding guest needs, providing courteous and efficient service, ensuring guest satisfaction from arrival to departure, and creating memorable “WOW” moments.

• Maintain thorough knowledge of banquet operations, food and beverage offerings, products, services, and POS systems to accurately assist guests and process orders.

• Prepare and maintain service areas by completing mise en place, cleaning duties, polishing equipment, and ensuring all outlet equipment and utensils are handled and stored correctly.

• Support revenue generation by proactively upselling products and services and accurately performing billing and cashiering tasks in line with hotel policies.

• Ensure operational excellence by presenting dishes according to hotel standards, managing stock and supplies, and communicating guest preferences, special requests, or allergies to relevant teams.

• Work collaboratively with colleagues and management, support other outlets when required, maintain effective communication, and contribute positively as a proactive team player.

As a Waiter/ess, we expect from you: 

• High School qualification is preferred, with a Degree or Higher National Diploma in Hospitality, Hotel Management, or Business Management considered an advantage.

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a server is required, ideally within banqueting, high-volume restaurants, or luxury hotel environments.

• Strong knowledge of Food and Beverage service is essential, including an understanding of service standards and guest expectations.

• Ability to identify guest needs and consistently deliver exceptional customer service and memorable guest experiences.

• Capable of working long hours in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a strong focus on operational excellence and service quality.

• Familiarity with restaurant POS systems, cashiering procedures, service flow management, multitasking, and basic MS Office computer skills is preferred.
