About the job

Based at the Mandarin Oriental Ritz, Madrid within the F&B Department in, the WAITER / WAITRESS is responsible for delivering elegant and attentive service, creating memorable dining experiences, and ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their time in the restaurant. The Waiter reports to the Restaurant Manager and Assistant Restaurant Manager.

As WAITER / WAITRESS you will be responsible for the following duties:

  • Provide seamless, elegant, and attentive table service in accordance with Mandarin Oriental standards.
  • Guide guests through the food and beverage menu, confidently making recommendations and answering questions with accuracy and enthusiasm.
  • Coordinate with kitchen and bar teams to ensure timely and accurate order delivery.
  • Set up, maintain, and clear tables following standard operating procedures and cleanliness guidelines.
  • Monitor guest satisfaction throughout the dining experience and respond promptly to any guest needs or concerns.
  • Accurately operate the point-of-sale (POS) system to input orders and manage billing.
  • Maintain up-to-date knowledge of daily menus, allergens, and special offerings.
  • Collaborate closely with hosts, sommeliers, bartenders, and managers to ensure service excellence and smooth guest flow.
  • Support opening and closing procedures, including mise en place, linen and glassware checks, and side duties.
  • Uphold hygiene, cleanliness, and food safety standards in line with Safe & Sound guidelines.
  • Participate in regular training and briefings to continuously improve service and product knowledge.
  • Ensure professional grooming, appearance, and behavior aligned with the hotel’s luxury image.

As WAITER / WAITRESS, we expect from you: 

  • Previous experience in a high-end restaurant, luxury hotel, or fine dining environment.
  • Strong understanding of food and beverage service, etiquette, and guest engagement.
  • A passion for hospitality, with excellent attention to detail and a warm, guest-first attitude.
  • Knowledge of wine, spirits, and pairing recommendations; WSET or similar certifications are a plus.
  • Ability to remain composed and professional in a fast-paced, demanding service environment.
  • Strong teamwork, communication, and organizational skills.
  • Flexibility to work variable schedules including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Good command of both Spanish and English; knowledge of additional languages is an advantage.
  • Legal right to work in Spain.
