About the job
Based at the Mandarin Oriental Corporate Office within the Operating Finance Department Team in Hong-Kong, the Director of Corporate Procurement is responsible for establishing a new corporate procurement function and capabilities, to drive operational excellence and support business growth.
As a Director of Corporate Procurement, you will be responsible for:
• Design, setup and launch a new Corporate procurement function
• Centralise (globally and regionally) contracts in selected categories to drive both quality consistency and cost efficiencies
• Foster alignment between global and local-level procurement coordination by setting clear procurement processes, policies, and governance
Roles and Responsibilities: Design, Set up and launch
• Establish Strategic Procurement direction
• Develop global and local procurement guidelines and policies, ensuring scalability across properties while accommodating local regulatory and operational needs
• Centralise global contracts
• Design organisation structure, review talent, hire develop
• Build spend and saving reporting tools
• Communicate and launch with key stakeholders and suppliers to gain support and traction
• Establish integrity and ethics throughout the procurement process
• Establish evaluation methodology and educate stakeholders on such methodology
Procurement
• Define and implement procurement strategies and identify global/local opportunities across key categories of all hotel supplies and services in collaboration with key functions
• Developing category plans and identify risks, issues and opportunities
• Coordinate with hotel purchasing teams to streamline property-level procurement, drive compliance with global standards
• Support pre-opening properties by ensuring OS&E and FF&E procurement readiness and aligning with brand and operational standards with respective business functions
• Track and analyse procurement spend, monitoring procurement performance to ensure compliance and ultimately to deliver financial and operational goals
• Drive quality consistency and adherence to brand standards through supplier management and continuous improvement in sourcing strategies
• Negotiate global contracts and coach colleagues in negotiation
Financial and Non-Financial Measures: • Financial: Cost savings targets, GOP improvement from procurement initiatives
• Standardisation: Rollout of procurement guidelines and adoption rate by properties
• Vendor Management: size and comprehensiveness of preferred vendors network, supplier performance against SLAs and cost-effectiveness benchmarks
• Operational Excellence: Compliance with procurement guidelines, on-time delivery of processes and contracts
• Stakeholder Satisfaction: Feedback from Operations, Properties, Ops Finance, and other corporate functions
As a Director of Corporate Procurements, we expect from you:
Communication Requirements:
• Interact and communicate effectively with key senior stakeholders across Corporate and Hotels to to drive global/local procurement and procurement process standards.
• Strong professional and transformational leadership and change management capabilities
• Internal: CFO, Group Director Operations Finance, Corporate and Hotel Purchasing/Finance executives, and other corporate business functions
• External: Suppliers and vendors, procurement system vendors
Experience:
• 10+ years of experience in procurement, supply chain, or strategic sourcing roles
• 5+ years of supervisory experience
• Strong background in multi market procurement, including managing large-scale operational supply chains
• BS/BA in Supply Chain, Economics, Finance or Business Administration
Skills required:
• Strong communication, influencing and negotiation skills
• Experience in managing vendor relationships and demonstrated knowledge of market
• knowledge of compliance and regulatory requirements for procurement across regions
• Pro- active, self-motivated, and the ability to work under pressure
• Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple activities simultaneously
• Have a strong risk mindset including identifying and managing mitigation and contingency actions
• Proven ability to lead and develop cross-functional teams and align procurement with guest experience and brand standards
