Regarding the hotel's gastronomy, we have a 2 Michelin star restaurant, a wonderful cocktail bar, indoor garden Mimosa and the pool terrace where you can enjoy light dinners or spectacular views.

The hotel Spa consists of 8 treatment rooms, both facial and body, indoor pool and gym.

 

About the job

Based at Mandarin Oriental, Barcelona within the People & Culture Department, the Assistant Director of People & Culture assists in planning, directing, and coordinating all functions of the People & Culture Management strategy, including employee and labour relations, employee onboarding and orientation, discipline and performance management, staff development, colleague experience and workforce communications. The Assistant Director of People & Culture reports to the Director of People & Culture.

 

As Assistant Director of People & Culture, you will be responsible for the following duties: 

  • Coordinate all actions and follow-up with appropriate Department Heads and Executive Committee members, as well as oversee performance of the colleagues when needed.
  • Oversee and support the P&C team members in all the areas in which they are involved.
  • Ensure the necessary formalities of the employee lifecycle from new hire to termination formalities.
  • Support colleagues and department heads through succession planning and coaching.
  • Assist the Director of People & Culture with the preparation of P&C annual budget and with all necessary reports to Mandarin Oriental Hotel Group.
  • Support the P&C Director and the L&D Director in all employee recognition programs, holiday parties & celebrations, and in other Learning & Development activities
  • Maintain high levels of interaction with all colleagues. exchange ideas, information, and opinions with others to formulate policies and procedures that contribute to improve Employee Experience.
  • Leads and execute activities related to the yearly Trainee and Rising Fans programmes.
  • Executes Risk Prevention yearly programme and follows up accidents and preventive measures with the help of external consultants.
  • Assists the P&C Director in any area and replaces this position in his/her absence: Corporate calls, meetings with the Work Council, conflict management, etc.

 

As Assistant Director of People & Culture, we expect from you: 

  • Minimum of 7 years’ experience in Human Resources Management, experience in hospitality is not mandatory but highly appreciated.
  • Experience in luxury hospitality will be considered as a plus. 
  • Proven experience in leading and managing teams.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Law, Psychology, Hospitality or HR related studies
  • Thorough knowledge of Human Resources practices.
  • Thorough knowledge of laws and regulations pertaining to Human Resource matters in Spain.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in HR programs.
  • Stay up to date with the latest trends and innovations impacting the Human Resources field.
  • Apart from Spanish (ideally Spanish as mother tongue), fluent in English, with proficiency level.
